Biggest Brakes to fit Under 15IN BBS's

The brakes on me old red shed are past their best, so I was wondering (as they've got to be replaced soon anyway), is there a reasonably easy bolt on upgrade, i.e. from a 5 Series, that will fit under standard 15IN BBS wheels.

upgrade discs, pads lines and fluid and you should be happy with the stoping abilatey.

has anyone fitted cossie 4 pots on these - i think the cossie discs are 283mm and fit behind 15" bbs on them so dont see why they wont fit with appropriate brackets.

I'm working on a set of 280mm vw disks and rx7 4 pots at the moment, I'm going to run a set of 15" bbs rim spaced to an offset of et10. just need to buy some hubcentric spacers and I'll fit them up, there is some pics on the link in my sig.

Actually you're right, they should fit as Cossie brakes were fitted to my TVR Griff and they had 15IN wheels on the front. Not sure they'd be a massive improvement though.

wixer - on my 3dr i had a pair of std discs on the front with ferodo ds2500 pads and suffered no brake fade round silverstone or castle combe.

my mate on the other hand who had a big disc conversion did suffer brake fade lol - but i think it was down to pad choice.

has anyone uprated their brakes at all - seems alot of people do engine upgrades/swaps but not many do brakes.

Surely the std e30 brakes are crap twin piston jobbies?

I have recently bought a set of WMS 4 pot calipers complete with slightly modified VW G60 280mm disks, braided hoses and EBC red stuff pads, i used to have a lot of problems with the standard brakes on track days and i have just done Cadwell Park the other week with the new setup and new disks and red stuff pads in the rear and they were spot on. The only thing you have to watch is the clearance on certain styles of 15" BBS alloys, some versions have a slight web on the back of the spokes where they meet the rim and these catch the calipers, soon rectified with a pair of 5mm spacers, WMS do a 2 or 3mm spacer to put the wheel back to standard offset if required.

2 x four pot calipers complete with mounting brackets, 2 x braided houses, 2 x 280mm discs, 2 x EBC rear discs, 3 x red stuff pads (two sets for front and one set for rear) shipping and vat just short of £650.00

What advantage do you really get from having more pistons in the caliper?

Surace area, modern designs a single piston sliding caliper can out perform 4 pots with obviously more pistons with equal surface area.

R4N_S_S if you search author keri-WMS he has the kit listed with pictures, he also had them on Ebay at one point.

Morat, with reference to having more pistons in the caliper the car brakes are definitely better and it is also a bonus not running into the back of one of you mates while chasing him round Cadwell circuit

The WMS 4 pots are of similar size to the Wilwood dynalites.
I use E38 Brembo's but you'll need a 302mm disk or greater in order to use these calipers.
These just squeeze under my 16's


I have a pr of Wilwood superlites with 44mm pistons for sale if your after a pr of 4 pots.
