I'm pretty sure a M52 or M30 with a few bolts on could do that sort of performance

You say a standard cossie engine is good for over 400BHP but then say with a few bolt on upgrades

bolt on upgrades I mean injectors, turbo, intercooler and chip.
hell if you just change the injectors on a completely standard car with a chip you will see over 300bhp easily and reliably.
Im assuming with a BMW engine you will need to open it up to lower the compression ratio.

I wouldn't have bothered

Don't think so, I've looked under the bonnet of his 3.5 touring and it was much neater. On the other hand that engine bay appears to be a pic of work in progress?fuzzy wrote:is this the one spadge built? i remember he was doing a touring.

a t4 on a stage 3? it might go fast but it wont beat minejustinreiss wrote:hahaha, guys the pics are old and its not finished yet ! i only put it up to 9k to stop people hassling me as i was selling it for 2000 before the conversion and my phone has been smoking from all the calls, the wheels were only put on while i wait for the 5 stud hub conversion,i was quoted 6000 labour alone so did it myself seeing as im a mechanic, it drives perfect and goes like a rocket, the suspension has been done and it handles realy nicely ! although i am looking for better rollbars, yet to be fitted is the strut brace,t4 stage 3 kit, braided hoses and big brake conversion, the tidy up is work in progress .ill post as and when there is something to tell! i took it to milton keynes cruise last night and got loads of abuse for being in"an old e30 shit heap"
this was coming from turds driving corsa's and pugs so i laughed it off and showered them in tyre rubber ! should have seen their faces when it lit up 1st,and 2nd before fcukin off into the distance !
are there many other guys on here that would be into hitting milton keynes cruise ?
id like to show up mob handed and show them what a car cruise should look like ! not a load of plastic crap that gets polished daily and driven rarely,,,,,,,, nice strong bmws that go like a rocket and get driven hard !
any takers ?
its every sunday
£6000 for labour alone is way over the odds. mine was £2600 for the labour but supply and fit would be about £6000 for a standard or stage 1.
good to see another in touring form though,

400 bhp on a cosworth would cost roughly £800 for a new t34.63 £200 for injectors, £180 for a chip,£60 for a 3 bar map sensor £300 for a bigger cooler and £100 for an uprated headgasket.R4N_S_S wrote:standard cossie engine is good for over 400BHP with just a few bolt on upgrades
can a standard bmw engine do that?
Dont forget the cossie engine is only a 2.0l four pot and im assuming some of you guys will come back with a 5l v8 bmw engine can do those performance figures - yes but its a friggin 5litre v8 so should be doing more than that anyway,
agreed on the engine install - it can be a lot neater
roughly £1600-£1700 to double the power from standard 204.thats not bad.

my headgaskets been done, the map sensors there and i already have the t34.63 turbo sitting in my shed...420bhp with 400lbft is there to be had with an off the shelf chip and some new injectors....Jon_Bmw wrote:That is crazy cheap compared to NA engine tuning. For that, you might be lucky and get 50-70bhp on something like an mi16.![]()
I need a turbo.

How about putting all that power down, would it not struggle for grip when the turbo comes on boost?

Well i sold my 406BHP/410lb/ft Harvey Gibbs Engine for £3000 with a brand new T34/0.63 turbo.jonesye30 wrote:iv seem cossie lumps up for 3-4 grand just for the engine it self when i was a ford man, before i went e30 that is,
I actually paid just over £2000 for the engine alone a few years before that second hand.
The engine new would cost over £10,000 to build so I havent done too bad.
Oh and that engine was abused for years on road and track and never missed a beat - not once.
