Oh yes they were!

In 2.0i DOHC form. If it was a hatch is was an XR4x4 and if it was a saphire it was a Ghia.

From 90 onwards.

I'm going with sierra but a facelifted 87 on model.

Its not a granda mk3 as on the car pictured, the roof line doesn't contine over the rear quarter window before dropping down.

Pre 87 sierras have a flater front.

87 on have a more curved front with wrap around indicators.

That snowy shape is an 87 on sierra.

Ford did do a two litre XR4i 5 dr in about 1990, at the same time they did a two litre XR4x4 so it could be an XR4i but it doesn't look like it has a spoiler on the tailgate.

i'll go with the sierra. extensive nerdy googling has found nothing else with such pronounced front 1/4 bumper rub strips.

the bonnet profile reminded me of the old pointy rover 200s which had a similar window layout in 5door form, but the bumpers didnt match, and the sides are too curved.

remember, you're looking from above at what the snow has settled on, it's a bumper shape, not a lower front spoiler shape.
cheers,

harry

XR4x4 is a rare car. Worth having, but probably not at that price.
