Had a chat with the guy this morning sounds very nice, overpriced a bit.
Would it be rude to rock up with £1500 and hopefully drive the car away.

That does look good. Nice colour. If you can drive it away for £1500 you'll have found yourself a nice motor there.

Yes but in these hard times not alot of people will be willing to spend £2000 on a 20 odd year old car.
I fancy a nice IS and this 1 seems stock just like it came from the factory

Looks nice and tidy, 1500 doesnt seem a bad price for it, I wouldnt pay more then 1800 though, as you said given the current climate etc, only an enthausiast may take it for that price range.

You may have to pay a tadge over £1500 for that, he's advertising at £2000, he must want £1700 minimum I would have thought, if not £1800.

It looks to clean to go for £1500...

Alright £1600 max but how do i go about it.The guy is not free on Sunday he rekons sometime through the week.
I am at work so cant make it.
All i can do is make an offer over the phone if agreed send a deposit paypal/cheque/postal order.
But he might think how can you make an offer if you not even seen the car,bit of a tricky 1 hey.
I do like the look of the car and what he told me over the phone ticked all the right boxs.

get his address and have a look round it anytime if he's not driving it.

i think it's worth every penny of asking price , its worth as much as your willing to pay , i doubt you would get it for less than 1800 notes i'd offer £ 1600 to start with you never know , luck may be with you :D

That'll be dog slow if it's really got an M3 diff.

Sounds like it'll be worth the asking price but nobody can tell from pics, let alone those ones.

how can you make an offer of 500 less than the asking price over the phone ?

when I have sold cars in the past and had people offering less over the phone without a viewing I just hang up

best thing to do is go and view then make the offer that YOU think it is worth and haggle from there, or is it that you only have 1500 to spend ?

I reckon you'd get it for 1750 if he saw the cash, so why not suggest 1500, then meet half way?

My brother had a 318i Lux in this colour. Has to be one of my favourite E30's colours.

Still £1750 seems a bit steep for it.

Very reluctant sale as father no longer wants to pay for insurance

Very difficult to tell by those pics but I wouldn't spend £2k on that. £1700 would be more reasonable if it's good.
Not in E30s any more :(

No harm in asking. At worst he can tell you to #uck right off. You can always up your offer to £1750... ish. I would have a good look over it though as some people can make rough cars look good in photos.
