Am considering selling my E30 to either upgrade to a better E30 or use the money towards an E46 Touring.

Some of you will have seen pics of my car - I know that it would yield probably around £1k in bits quite easily and thats probably the sort of money I would want for it - however I know that in the current climate there's probably not a lot shiftingso was just wondering if there's any serious buyers out there at present or just messers making silly low offers?

Car is a pre facelift '87 2dr 325i Manual with 131k, good service history inc handbooks, MOT until March, Bronzit Beige  , 15" BBS with good tyres ( recent new Falkens on rear - including 15" BBS Spare ), Tech 1 Steering wheel, PAS, and a beige houndstooth Sport interior with near mint seats - no rips or tears at all. Stainless exhaust, unusual Genuine BMW front spoiler.

There is a pics thread on it already if I can find it.

Bad points : Could do with a pair of front wings and rear arches replacing. Rest of car is pretty solid - scuttle panel etc is A1.
Usual E30 central locking issue.

This isn't a "whats it worth" thread - I'd just like opinions on whether its likely to sell quickish if I did decide to sell.

Has been garaged and only done about £2k since last MOT so should go through next one easy. I wouldn't have any issues using it as a daily if I needed to.

the only way youll find out is when you put it up for sale.otherwise youll get everyone and their dog saying "id take it " and " that will sell easily" etc etc but most of these people fade away when it comes to the crunch.

Will think about it today and might test the water with a For Sale thread up later. I just hate the process of selling cars - I usually P/ex them to avoid the hassle of dealing with the idiots who usually don't turn up, or those that do who want to offer 50% of the asking price.

Yh I know, and you forgot the part where they turn up late...........Its all worth it in the end though.

Dont forget pistonheads aswell, they dont charge you, that way if you do change your mind or it doesnt sell, then you dont end up with less money in your pocket

I sold mine last month.

It was on here, Pistonheads and Car and Classic. I had no issues with the three Ts (timewasters, test-pilots and tyre-kickers). I had loads of calls offering me money before they'd seen the car in the metal and you can tell how genuine these people are anyway.

In the end, it was sold to a Zoner in a very professional manner.

When you're selling a car, it all depends whether you've put it up for sale at the right time, for the right money in the right place.

And whether there is a buyer at the right time with the right money in the right place......

Selling a car is a lottery mate.

You just got to suck it and see.

If you advertise it here, and it sells here, it's far too cheap.

Been thinking about it all day - I still don't know what to do. It owes me about £1500 but there's no way I would get that much for it. I suppose I would be prepared to let it go if I could get £1100 - £1200 for it but I know thats strong money for a non-sport chromie thats not minty mint and in a not-very-desirable colour.

In bits you'd get :

Cloth Sports Interior ( near Mint ) £200
5 x 15" BBS with 2 as-new tyres £150
Engine & Box £250
Front Spoiler £20
4 Months Tax Refund £60
Tech 1 Steering Wheel £20

There's £700 before you break sweat - and whats left I would think would yield at least another £200 - £300 in other bits before your weighed it in.

Problem is most people will see it as a 22 Year old car which needs the arches doing and I'll probably end up with the "whats the lowest you'll take mate - I'll give ya £400 innit" muppets messing me about.

B0ll0cks to it - I'm gonna keep it. 8)

the good ones still seem to be selling for decent money. a lot of europeans are car shopping over here at the moment for rarer stuff thanks to the exchange rate being in their favour.

is the'credit crunch' going to have that much effect on cheaper e30s? not really the sort of car you take finance or credit out to own.
cheers,

i sold a set of bbs 15's today a bit tatty with shagged tyres and no centre caps for £142 so your wheels should get you nearer £225 and the interior should fetch more than £200 easy if its near mint

decided to keep it anyway. £1k seems to be the magic figure - and as I could probably get more than that in bits but well under that if I sold it as is and i'm not in desparate need of a grand at the moment I may as well keep it.

question is now do I spend money on the bodywork first or get the suspension and mechanicals in order and then get the arches done ?

I have never had a problem when selling an e30, It's when I sell brand new cars at work I have come backs and moaning.. (citrone sh**)

If you advertise it correctly and put a fair price. there should be no hassel at all.

And there are plenty of people buying at the moment.

Capri Rob,keep it you know it makes sense!

I would do the bodywork next as others have said, when its all nice and straight i bet you get a renewed love for it and would of regretted selling.
