It actully says "AMC" I think.

It is a replacement head, i.e not bmw. Having said that they are good quality casting, the ports are not finished quite as well as the bmw, but otherwise they are on a par, except for one thing. They don't crack like the bmw one :D which is a huge peace of mind.

Its funny you mention it as I have just rebuilt one today!! It will be up for sale tomorrow if anyone would like it.

cheers maggs

The one I got from corry racing was amc. has stronger journals and stronger wider water way's. Corry's did sort the roughness of the casting out before it was in my hands though winkeye .

If you have the engine out of the car the best bet would be to take the sump off and have a look at the crank.

If it is a 2.7, the crank will be stamped with "HUB 81" somewhere. I cant quite remember where but I'm sure it on one of the counter weights.

Thid means the crank has a stroke of 81mm, instead of 75mm. These cranks come from either the e28 525e engine, or a diesel engine the m21, from the 5/324td

the other way to check would be look inside the ECU if you have it, it will have a different chip in it, but this is less conclusive than taking the sump off.

Good luck, hope youve got a 2.7 :D
