yes, you will also have to pay the surety fee that you will then forfeit as you havent produced a valid tax disc. another £160 ?

you will also geta fine through the post in a week or 2 for back dated road tax to when it was last taxed.

It was tast taxed in 2005 how does that work? Is it a fine from when I have owned it/applied for V5 via V62?? regards

Did it pass with no work after being sat for 3 years?? quite impressive if it did :D

Where was the car kept for the last 3 years? If you haven't declared it SORN in all that time then the DVLA might feel like fining you for that too! :?

If the grass verge / parking spaces are owned by the council etc then then your car has to be taxed to park there.
1 & 2 bed flats in Bournemouth areas, with parking
PM for details

have you had it off road since it was last taxed was it in your name since then ? or have you just bought it? if youve just bought it give them the name of the person you bought it from as its not your problem.
they sent me a bill for backdated tax back to when it was last taxed but i had only owned it for a couple of months worth of it it. i threw the fine in the bucket and havent heard anything since, that was about 8 months ago. eventually they will chase it up but i can prove when i bought it from so i wont be liable for the full amount.

on the road doesnt have to be specifically on the road, if its on a public area of ground, grass, car park etc maintained by the local authority its still on the road.if its outside your private boundary its on the road.
i considered leaving one of mine in a car park on axle stands so they couldnt clamp it, possibly removing the number plates so they couldnt identify it but then theyed probably just lift it on a flatbed and take it away.

The car has been kept in a barn for the last 3 years - I bought it about 3 weeks ago, took it for an MOT om wednesday, applied for V5 thursday, clamped friday - bummer.

Its my fault. It is an arse.

you might get the fine throught the post for the backdated tax or it might go to the last registered keeper but if you do a phone call will sort that out easily enough, you wont be liable for that.

That was me mate. :(
Chris36, think yourself lucky, mine was taken on the back of a lorry.
No warning, nothing. Car was up on jacks, stuffed full of parts and tools, and the coont,s at first said to my daughter, who luckily witnessed all this, that they thought it had been abandoned. Yeah right. Fair play to my girl, she stood in front of the lorry, until they told her where they were taking
the car, and who they were.. What made it even worse was the fact that it was parked next to a car that had run out of tax 6 months peviously.
A seven day warning notice was stuck on that. :x :x :x
Managed to get my tools and some parts back, but had to give up the car. They wanted, lifting fee, storage fee, and a fee for bringing it back to me. Where they would of, no doubt ,lifted it again at a latter date.
Expensive lesson, but think you might have to swallow this time.
