The similarity is so obvious that I can't believe how many of you have failed to spot it! But if you really need it spelling out here goes.........

They're both white....

Got wheels at the front.....

headlights too......

Oh yeah and number plates!!! They are not quite the same shape but both contain an assortment of numbers and letters.

This is bound to happen sooner or later, so we might as well do it now.

What's quicker round a track, or through town?

E30 318iS vs Mustang V6
E30 325i vs Mustang GT V8
E30 M3 vs Shelby GT500

or any combinations therefrom
?

I'll state now that I have driven a new Mustang so I have my own ideas.
But I'd like to know yours, and some technical comparison,
and maybe some good old fashioned bickering.

Basically the mustang was their XR3 , as in 'sporty' flash for the masses. Like most 80s chariots it looks a bit sad now but in 1989, 225bhp, 145 mph and low 6s to 60 for less than we were paying for an XR2 was serious bang for not many bucks.
These cars are very simple and are supported by a huge aftermarket industry and with not a huge amount of money you can go very fast and even stop and go around corners ! :)

I'm glad I'm not the only zoner who wants one. Would you have yours modified though? It's very tempting to go mad and have a massive supercharger fitted, but even though I have the tuning bug in a bad way, and the Mustang loves to be tuned, and is also pretty poor in terms of performance as it comes from the factory, that's the way I'd keep it. Not for money reasons, not because it's cool or uncool, not for enjoyment reasons - but because it's not the kind of car you buy when you want to be sensible, or sensational (particularly not in the UK) but it's a purchase for the soul. Looking down on it in the car park from your office window, gently overtaking a Kia on the M25, seeing the curtains twich when you arriving at your parents house and knowing they've seen it; that's where it's special. As special as a Maybach, but without the hate from others, and without the smugness to others.

*snap*

Sorry, I go all misty-eyed at the thought of owning a Mustang. I bought one once, with someone else's money. Was very cool indeed. Will shush myself now.
