One thing to note, day insure and other large companies have stopped insuring anything before 1993 iirr. So an E30 may be out the question

Alright mate. i take it your insured on the is? Phone up your existing insurer and speak to them. Thats what i did when i bought my sport, phoned them up and gave them the details and all it cost me was 6 pound for full cover for 24hrs. That was with privelidge. I know i'm older than you but its worth a try.

There is still one that cover any age vehicle and with mods declared too for any period of 24hours to 28 days.

hello mate,

im 21 and got day insurance on my 84' e21 for £24, im pretty sure there is no limit to the age of the car. there is however a limit to the age of the insurer which is why its so difficult to rent a vehicle if your under the age of 21. type temp insurance cover for under 21 in google, you might get lucky.

You will find that your existing company will be able to insure you for a small period of time I'm sure. I paid £40 extra for 2 weeks to run about in my new 320ise, that was on my M's policy
Bollocks to this 24v scrap!

i use them everytime i buy a car

as stated by march im sure they still insure under 21s for daily cover

usualy costs me around £14 for a day but it may be a little higher due to your age?

You need a minimum of 30 days insurance to tax a car. You might be able to get the previous owner to tax it if he still has an old certificate of insurance?

dammit :( just found this:
If you’re not shown as the registered keeper on DVLA records you cannot tax the vehicle. You’ll need to apply for a Registration Certificate in your name. To get one, fill in form V62 ”˜Application for a Vehicle Registration Certificate’ and post to DVLA, Swansea SA99 1DD. You may have to wait up to four weeks for a new certificate to arrive. In the meantime, you should keep your vehicle off the road
the bloke said that he doesnt hav insurance on it anymore but i think ill have to ask him about when his insurance certificate runs/ran out i think :(

Thats what the new keeper part(little green bit) of the V5 is for. You can tax a car with that, but not without insurance as per what Theo said.

The government or whatever authority make it as difficult as possible to stay legal these days, its getting a joke. They then wonder why more and more people risk driving around uninsured.

NU have always done my day insurance, but I think its 21yr's +.

For insurance you should just be able to ring up the insurers and switch your policy to your 'other car' ie this one, if they ask why just say your daily car is in the garage or something like that. They should switch you to another car for a nominal fee. I've done this many times without a problem.

ahh little green bit makes more sence to me than v62! probem is aswell is that i could do with picking it up on monday, but the listing ends this saturday (its on a non generic auction website) :squint: otherwise it will be a wee while before i can pick it up, and i dont ideally want to pay the full amount before i get the car.
