Right guys well in the near future i am looking to turbo an e30 the current engine is 318 obviously this will be swapped for a 325 lump.

I have heard that later model 325 have lower comp ratio's is this true and is it straight forward to source these engines also i will be needing engine loom injectors diff box etc

Know on to the turboing basically i want to get about 300bhp can i do this buy using a bolt on kit fron the states???

Or isit possible to get a manifold made here or maybe even flip the original manifold????

I know with other cars you can lower the compression ratio using thicker head gaskets is this possible to do on a e30??? also running 300ish bhp will the standard internals coupe i will get the car set up by a professional company

if i were you mate i would give ant from A-TEC a call on 01959534718 tomorrow. the early 325 engines are indeed the ones to use. you could also go the supercharger route.

i think its the heads on the m20 is the think to worry about if you get a weak one it should crack in no time with 300 horses! i would ensure prssure is very good on the one you buy.

I'd like to boost up my 325i if possible (once i get it and fix her up)! What are the *rough* costs involved. I dont know much about turboing and have tried looking before and tried getting info of sites (similar to these) but still no joy. Does anyone know a good tutorial sort of site that explains charging your car (super or turbo), explaining each part a little and what needs to be done to get a turbo car?

Also as said above i think, is there any "bolt on kits" designed for a 325?

M20 head dont crack from extra power, they crack from poorly maintained cooing systems.

An early high comp M20B25 would be more ideal for NA tuning but for FI the later B25 would be more ideal.

Cheers. Will read when i get a chance. I'll be getting an earlier high compression engined 325i. I take it thats not as ideal for turboing? What does this mean? Less boost? More work? Or more chance of something going wrong, or badly wrong?

to run safely you need low compression for high boost. my cosworth is running 7.5 at 32 psi but i have known a cosworth running 6.8 at 30 psi both on big turbos. imo lower is better as you dont need compression for power when you have a blower. but higher compression will give better driving off boost. my car has been mapped perfectly so runs smooth as silk off boost but has fek all pull in it til its on boost.
