Are the ramping whores satified now?
Or do you want me to take my engine apart and measure the bore and piston ring gaps? People need to learn to trust...

there aint no trust in the car selling game. and neither there should be . unless your rich and can afford to be ripped off.
if only youd let that other guy do that it would probably be sold by now and you wouldnt be wasting your time with this.

You do! It's unroadworthy, and would fail an MOT!

Aaaah..
Well a picture tells a thousands words.
It all looks clean and straight. If I was buying a car I guess I'd appreciate having an idea of what it's like before trecking to buy it. I'd still be routing around under there like a rust ferret though. You can't tell the condition from the photos anyway!
Good luck. Make sure you polish it. An awful lot of people buying cars decide before they even knock on the door..

selling £300 cars is a tw4t people want it to be mint so when your asking as much as you are for a 20 year old car you should expect people to want to have a good look round it putting it on a ramp that the potetial buyer was going to pay for doesnt seem to out of the question to me i accomodate someone that wanted me to do it for them

A potential buyer wanted to look underneath before purchasing the car, at his expense. Marc didn't want to do this, so the buyer bought a different car instead.
Currently slumming it in an E46 Touring

i would agree there its just basic under car shots there if i was wanting to take pics for a potential buyer it would be off the jacking points, rear inner arches, boot floor and around any known rust areas

I don't know what all the fuss is about!
If I were looking to buy an E30 with an MTech bodykit, I'd want to see the car with the kit off before committing myself.
This is why I no longer drive an E30......

so what was the issue in having your 5k 20 year old car, put on a ramp buy a very interested buyer prepared to travel a long way?
to expect someone not to want a good look underneath is plain daft, and surely a proper ramp is less hastle, with less potential to cause damage than outside your house on a normal jack?
would you refuse to let someone have an aa or rac inspection done? theyre going to jack the car up, check for corrosion, give the wheels a tug to check bearings and bushes. i suppose anyone paying for an inspection is a timewater?
the actual pics show very little, other than it's an e30 with at least it's floor pan intact. shame you can't see any of the usual major corrosion areas properly. i would also struggle to describe it as being 'mint' from those pics alone. looks like it's going to need a fuel tank vent pipe soon, and there's a lot of oil on the back of the gearbox
cheers,
harry

so would most people i expect, especially as were talking top end money. i think its strange that a seller would expect you to take their word for anything and hand over your £5G blind.

Marc, I read the original thread where your car is for sale and to be honest I can't understand why you were so aversed to letting someone inspect it/ put it on a ramp, if you weren't against it that was certainly the impression given.
Surely you must understand you are asking strong money for what looks like a nice tidy example, but there are many cars which look all peachy up top but are like a tea bag underneath. Also, i've personally seen plenty of evidence on here of people being very disappointed after travelling long distances to view a supposedly "mint" example, only to be met with something far from it. Plenty of messers out there thinking their tired old turd is minty mint when it is far from the case.
It was perhaps somewhat prudent that the potential purchaser asked you in advance before setting off rather than have all sorts of difficulties after showing up. There is no way you can properly appreciate the state of an e30 by just popping your head underneath when the car is sat on the floor.
Yes you haven't got anything to hide, but your reluctant approach to allow any proper vetting clearly gave the buyer second thoughts. You know you are an honest person with a tidy car, but can a purchaser tell this from a few pics and maybe a natter on the phone?

Owned
There is a difference to looking under a car and taking a picture of the undernmeath ffs
You declined the car going on a ramp to be inspected properly before someone handed over 5k , Big mistake in my eyes
How many pages till this gets locked

Retro Marc. Why don't you put all of this behind you, re - advertise the car. Include more detailed pictures of the underside, be open to people wanting to inspect WHATEVER they want, so long as it doesn't leave you out of pocket or the car damaged.
Put this down to a bad experience, decide if you really do or do not want to sell the car and move on from there.
Good luck which ever way it goes.

If it ain't broke, fix it till it is

Aw, give Marc a break - he's hardly had an easy ride, having had the kit stolen then all this aggro/The Spanish Inquisition to sell the car. Remember, it's always easier to criticise than to be right...

Agree mate .
If he had let the car be inspected by the potential buyer then we wouldnt be in these threads as some think he has something to hide .
It then turned into a bit of a joke which everyone found funny
Re-advertise and no doubt with BETTER pics of where the door and cill pods were and im sure you will get a bite ot at least ramped
