Unfortunately i became a victim of the high curb+low car= holy sump club this weekend

This'll be the third sump that i've had on the car since i bought it; the first needed replacing as it was leaky and had been bodge welded to reapair it and the second one i'd only had on 2 weeks before it met its maker this weekend. So im thinking that as i don't really want to higher the car, it'd be a good idea to get a sump guard of some sort.

Does anybody know where i can get one for a 4 pot? The only ones i've seen are for a 6'er on eBay

cheers magpie,
(and thanks for replying to my thread in the wanted section, although i managed to find one closer to home for alittle cheaper )

Mmmm it does become abit of a ballache changing sumps, its not like its ever a planned occurence when one gets cracked though so i'd never really given thought to getting a sump guard as i dont usually go out with the intention of punching a hole in mine

Mines a 318i lowered 60mm at the front.

How much would you consider selling it for?

I found a diff guard in the scrappy, turned it round, drilled 2 holes in the section behind the front valance on the little lip that sticks backwards and bolted what was now the front (2 long arms) onto that.
I drilled a hole into one edge and ran a piece of scrap steel up the side of my engine to a spare hole in it, drilled a hole through it, and stuck a bolt through it! On the other side I wrapped a piece of wire around the rear mount of the guard and over my steering rack to another random hole (on the edge of the sump) and back again, tied it, jobs a good-un.

I also ripped the rivets out of it a few days ago by touching a kerb corner straight on. I also touched the sumpguard to floor just driving along country lanes that were bumpy! Will be re-riveting it ASAP because it may not be awesum or anything, but its dirt cheap, and easy to mount. (point was to stop wearing holes in the bottom of my sumps, as opposed to creating a SOLID guard that'd support an engine)

7kg?! Wow, what is it, a 6mm piece of sheet steel? Mine sparks too, but i have an advantage over you - my cars about 80mm down ;) Cost me £5 too (need it fixed asap actually, that and the sump. And the petrol tank back in and the welding done)
