Before you look at the relevant threads, what were you expecting to spend?

the more i think about it, the more i like the idea of an s50 in my m3.

whilst i'd hate to lose the s14, id love the reliable power and torque of even just an s50b30 280ish bhp in an e30 has got to make a quick car. plus parts avaliability would be a big advantage.

i'd still keep the s14 tucked away to be able to return the car to stock at somepoint, or even just to turn into a statue in the livingroom winkeye

you can pick up an s50b30 in good condittion, with ecu, loom, sensors, keys for around a grang, a gearbox for £200, what else is there on top of that?

clutch, engine and gearbox mounts, exhaust manifold would be the hardest bit, but handily an m3 doesnt have steering linkage complications. brake servo. m3 has a decent radiator, and electric fan, m3 prop and diff are ideal anyway...

Oh sorry..

The handling is ruined compared to the poise of the S14..

Better? :)

The first time you put your foot down in an S50'd E30, you'll soon forget about the handling balance! Its not that bad anyway.

i don't have a welded diff or a million cable ties holding the car together so i obviously can't drive very well, and would be unable to notice the difference in handling anyway
