Hey folks,

I've had a couple of E30's some time ago, but after using a 325i for drifting at the BMW show at Santa pod the other weekend (white 4dr, black front bumper), i've decided to get another.

I was actually on the look out for a touring, but a cabby came up at a very good price.

After having a quick few laps drifting Mikes (MJG's) 335. i have sourced a 535i sport to do the conversion.

The car is in reasonable condition, the leather will be coming out and some slightly more bucketed recliners will be going in. It's currently red, but will have a colour change, slammed to the floor and some 15" dishy wheels.

I'll get some pics up when i've got round to taking some.

Ta

Welcome to the zone.

So you're going to make a drift cabby?

What's happening to the leather fronts? winkeye

Drift cabby, well, sort of.

It will as i say, have a 3.5 conversion, stiffer suspension and a diff of somekind, weither welded or LSD. So, it will be ok for drifting, obviously some chassis work will need to be done, but it won't be for competition use, i have a dirty Nissan R32 for that.

I would have thought a Cabby would be a nightmare to drift. Malcoms got a 335i Cab and it's a great summer car as you have pure music comming from the bonnet.

Whozzat? I've lost track of all the 3.5 convertibles on the zone!

Check out the guide I put together (note - I can take credit for barely any of the actual work in coming up with the info!).

Are they sports seats? If they are and aslong as there's no rips/tears i might be interested. I'll watch the for sale section.

Malcomes ermmm I only know him by his real name. Got a Grey Cab with a 3.5 under it. He's very active at the show down with the Pomp / Southamptom lot.

Cheers again for the welcome,

Gooner, I am actually considering Satin black, but it's been done on quite a fair few cars now, i am thinking maybe a dark gold colour, even metallic brown. I like to do things slightly different from the rest.

Here is the only pic of the cabby for now.........

More to come soon (I'll start a project thread for that though)

It wont actually be an out and out drift car, more just for having the odd slide when i go to drift days as a spectator/tutor, i do a lot of tutoring so it's nice just to get in your own car and have some fun LOL.

I'm so used to driving cars daily with welded diffs, it doesn't worry me that it'll be a full time road car when complete.

i understand thats why cab seats dont fully recline, so they save you in a roll over (nothing to do with the extra cross beam under the rear seats)

welcome to the zone,

on a more serious note why not fabricate some metal/carbon fibre rear head rests welded through the rear fire wall to the boot floor.... in the event of any donwsideuppedness you may still be about to discuss it.

it may be also possible to strengthen that electric areial enough winkeye

It is completely the same as i collected the car earlier this week, so open diff, stock suspension and a 1/2 broken drivers seat LOL!

The cabby now has cut springs (i'll be getting a VSX kit or similar soon)

I'll be up at Snetterton doing the DWYB demo, so come along and see me for a passenger ride.
