Ive been looking at tourings recently as I am planning on going travelling around Europe for a while. Saw a 325 on autotrader last night which was just 2 miles from my house, there was one photo and it looked alright so i thought i would check it out. Made arrangements to meet him tonight.

Parked up outside the guys house and he turns up a few mins later, car looked well, seemed to have been lowered slightly he turns around at the end of the road and comes back. He unlocked the doors and said he would take me for a drive (feel like im building up to tell you he abused me now)

Anyway as i walked around the car noticed a huge dent in the passenger wing behind the wheel, and as i got in got a massive whiff of petrol. When i questioned the dent he said that it was because the mud flap was missing and that what they all look like with out it...hmmm... seeing as i turned up in an e30 myself you would think he would know better. When i questioned the petrol he said that he had just put some petrol in the car but got distracted and splashed some on his foot...hmmmmmmm... and the petrol light was on...

When he was driving the car felt well, no strange noises and felt better on the road than mine. Revcounter wasnt working, or the little economy thing. Dash was cracked. random bits of trim missing here and there.

Got back to his and had a look under the bonnet, looked surprisingly well, no oil leaks just a little dirty. then i noticed the paint work was scratched here and there including a huge scratch the width of the bonnet and someones initials on the boot.

He was after £975 for the car and said in the little drive that he had spent £1000 on it recently for new wishbones and full exhaust. I wouldnt have valued it at anywhere near that, probably not even half.

Just made my excuses and left. The advert read
"BMW 325I TOURING nice condition throughout, good engine, Mot'd & taxed Jan 09, Suits emthusiast. £975 ono."

Why cant people just tell the truth? :x As soon as he made up the bit about the mud flap, just 30 seconds after i saw the car, I knew i didnt want it as i didnt trust anything else he said. shame as it looked good at first. :cursin:

Anyone got a nice touring? winkeye

when an add says it suits an enthusiast that usually means it need lots of work done and only an enthusiast would be silly enough to waste the time and cash. thats how i read it anyway.

not particularly, more dependent on condition rather than touring or saloon. without seeing pics its hard to tell but £975 as a starting point for negotiations doesnt seem to excessive.

Sounds far worse than mine, which was the right side of 500 quid.

I saw that one and was seriously tempted until I realised that I already have 2 cars and it is 184 miles away from me!
Lovely colour though.
