Iirc its some kind of counterweight, so if removed i would imagine it would make a difference if removed,

It make a minor adjustment to the weight distribution thus affecting the resonant frequency of the car. IIRC the cab had a problem with resonance and the weight removed the problem. Leave it in.

You can always move the battery to the boot in it's location. The battery is almost as heavy. 3Kg lighter i think.

baz taking that out wont make that four pot go any quicker get a real engine

Its a counterweight.
If you remove it, look at the back of the car and you'll see it sitting to the left a bit.
Leave it in or do a bettery mod to the boot in place of it. :cool:

They did after all fot 4 pot engines into e30's :)
Engine conversions, Auto to manual conversions, parts, servicing etc etc... For anything e30 call 07718 901737
