I can't believe I've spent nearly an hour pfaffing about trying to seat both windscreen wipers as low down on the screen as possible. The d/s side was done accidentally when I took it off to spray up the grills on the scuttle and put it back in a hurry. I realised that low down wipers looked better so decide to match up the other one. At first no way would it seat properly without half hanging off the screen, but eventually after almost giving up I managed to find just the right angle. What a palaver ... and sad tosser me for going back umpteen times to make sure the wipers still look 'right' ffs :wan:

Have you put them on yet and seen if they seat back where you've set them?

Yes, that's why it took so long. There's prolly only one notch on that knurled bit that will let it seat very low without hanging off the screen or fouling the rubber seal. There's a small amount of play and you can't do much about that, but the wipers now sit with the tips about 4cms. above the seal, which seems about as low as you can get bearing in mind they way they curve. Fook! What is the matter with me? 8O

Thank god for that :chuckle:

I too must admit to acquiring the original brochure, so I could observe the wiper rest position.
Imagine my frustration when I noticed an angular difference between the early 1988 brochure and the late 1988 brochure!!! :x

Naturally, I settled on an average between the two after much manipulation with an Oxford Instruments protractor, but horror of horrors the rest position was different again when the windscreen was wet!
Out with the ring spanner and protractor again on the basis that the wipers would only be subject to commanded use when the windscreen was wet.

All seemed well, but the fact the wiper rest position failed to conform to either brochure image niggled away and caused many sleepless nights and excessive drinking.

Well, the job was the first to go, rapidly followed by the family and friends and I felt compelled to look at the wipers every five minutes, on the minute and look at the brochure pictures again. The reiteration persisted for five weeks or so. The front door was blocked by the mountain of correspondence, broadsheet newspapers, copies of Windscreen Wiper Weekly and milk bottles. I set fire to the house. There was nothing left, just the car sitting there.

It was sold the following day.

Ah so you still managed to keep an eye on the wiper positions then. Good man :thumb:

Wiper park position can be finely adjusted by moving the motor on its slotted mounts!
