Hi there, i have just signed up to the e30 forum as i love the cars and am thinking of getting one to restore as a sort of project / second car :)

So...hi :)

Is there anything i need to know when looking for an e30? I.e. common rust issues etc?

Thanks!

Hi Ryan

Welcome :D

Where you from?

The search function is your friend

Rust - Battery tray, bulk head (near the wiring loom gromet) scuttle's, arches, valances and front 'Jacking' points...

Chrome bumpered cars (aparantly rust worst, some clean examples still to be found but are getting few and far between) but they are the best...

Oh, and it has to be 6 pot.

The End :D

Welcome mate. There's a Sport buying guide in the tech section. Worth reading as most of it is applicable to buying all e30's. Obviously the bits about body kit are not applicable to standard jobs that are sans body kit.

Best rule is to buy on condition, not on spec.

Thanks for the info everyone :)

I will check all over for rust when i buy, and also make sure to get a 6 pot :)

I currently own a Mitsubishi FTO which is a 2 L V6 and i love her but have also alwats liked the look of the e30's, i just think it's a very cool car.
i don't want to heavily modify the new car, i have done that on the fto as you can see, im more after restoring her to new, new chrome respray, nice multispoke alloys, leather etc etc and just general improvements :)

Heres the ricebucket...I know a Mitsi and a Bimmer are totally different so most of you probably wont like it! lol

I never understood why these were not powered by the correct wheels, or the general facination with them.

Looks a pleasant enough example though!

Good luck in the car hunt!

What sort of budget do you have?
