Ok im not a mechanic and dont know much on cars i just drive them before i get laughed at....

The pre facelift e30 325 engines, are they chain driven or cam belt? Ive been told both so im not sure and as i aint got a clue when mine was changed and i have had the car 6 months now so would be a good idea if i had it sorted out.

My mechanic said its cam belt, but then the guy i brought it off said to me its chain driven so it dont need changing....so whos lying to me???

When the old belt is replaced, go back round to his house and whip him on the ar5e with the old one lol - that'll teach him to know what he's selling in the future.

Cam belt should be changed every 30,000 miles or three years. If you have no proof of it being changed,do it sooner rather than later....or there will be

40,000 miles / 4 years is long enough for a cambelt. Belts are cheap and easy to replace. Engines are easy to replace, but not quite so cheap.
