Wonder what became of the S14 engines, or were they supplied to Alpina without them?

Good question. I'd guess the latter, as BMW seem to be happy to accomodate Alpina's requirements (that and the market for race prepped S14sa was proably ripe at the time!). Then again it's possible that Alpina just made the engines and upgraded donor chassis / shells. Or I could just be blowing it out my gasket.

Would love to know for sure.

I'm sure this is a repost - I remember p1ssing myself laughing at the 24 "carrot" wheel bolts, and I'm sure he was on drugs with the price.

It's not one of the 62 genuine B6s, just a standard early car with a B6/B10/B11 M30 engine, nasty rear lights and a questionable retrim - why no photos of the fresh cream leather recaros? :P

he claims it is a 87' M3 with a 86' b6 motor I agree the rear lights are nasty  but still it is what it is and i love it if all my cash wasn't tied up in houses I would give him a call i read somewhere that a genuine B6 is worth between 50 and 60k? is there anyone on the zone that owns one ?

Hi E30Topless - check out mobile.de, there's normally a couple of "standard" E30 bodied B6's for sale, they built 227 of them. As for a B6S - no way they're worth anything like £50 grand. £20 tops....

Search for "Kelson" (I think), he's got a very nice, diamond black B6s.

PacerPete's got a standard car that I imagine will be for sale at some stage when he can be ar$ed finishing it!

.....and "07" numbers cost 50p/pm from a landline - I shudder at the thought of how much it'd cost from a mobile....!

This thing's a mutant - buy an early diamond black E30 M3 - £8k?, an E34 B10 - £3.5k?, some mounts from E30.de, the rest of the usual M30 conversion bits (do a search) and some red bumper tape.....

It's very shiney.

Seriously though, I know it was the 80's but was the best way to torque and '251 bhp' fitting that boat anchor?

What a lovely looking boat anchor it is though. The M30B35 is a seminal piece of BMW history after all, and does at least have a forged crankshaft going for it. It surprises me to see the rev counter on that is red-lined from just 6250rpm; I'd have thought Alpina would have raised it somewhat.

Loving those digital dashboard gauges

160 mph, 0-60 mph in 6 sec. In 1987 that was supercar quick and is not too shabby today.
Lots of S50 engined mutants don't go much faster...... :)

Contemporary road tests reported that the B6s understeered less than a standard M3.

Alpina didn't just fit the "boat anchor" and send it out the door.
