mate , a lot of the banter is just baiting ,waiting for someone to bite on the hook.dont take it to seriouslye36boy wrote:Im not getting defensive, I just find it funny when people like you get on there high horse and start ranting on about how there e30 is better than any other car in its class.oakey wrote:^ very true my friend![]()
You seem to have a passion for the old sierra e36boy! Getting defensive? Are you 18 stone with a shaven head, loads of tats, gold chains and punch some faarking caarnt every friday?
There are MANY cars I think are better looking than the e30. The sierra is NOT one of them although there are some fords that are better looking without doubt.
This is an e30 forum and im a fan of e30's but unlike some people, i give credit to other iconic cars of the same era as the e30.
Yep, some people start getting all stressed out if another car is even mentioned in the same sentance as th e30.fuzzy wrote:mate , a lot of the banter is just baiting ,waiting for someone to bite on the hook.dont take it to seriouslye36boy wrote:Im not getting defensive, I just find it funny when people like you get on there high horse and start ranting on about how there e30 is better than any other car in its class.oakey wrote:^ very true my friend![]()

Where exactly did I say that?e36boy wrote: Im not getting defensive, I just find it funny when people like you get on there high horse and start ranting on about how there e30 is better than any other car in its class.
Your passion for sierras is blurring your vision so much that you are unable to read correctly?
Put it this way if the two cars were women the e30 would be kylie and the sierra would be Jo Brand! Which would you rather?

LSD, MTEC Suspension, body-kit, short shift / tweaked ratio gearbox etc...fuzzy wrote:yep ,that about sums it up for sure but whats a sport? a 325i with a black headlining and a different ratio gearbox?junkman wrote:the e30 325i is a better car any day the ford is just a ford sierra with a 2 litre turbo lumpin it...
I know what you're saying but the Sport is a quite a bit nicer than a standard 325i.
It's just that sooooo many E30's have the TEC II flung on and sports seats that a genuine Sport just doesn't float anyone's boat as much anymore.
Well, not mine - it's just been diluted too much by copycats.

Did the Sport come with a short shift gear change as standard?richie_zone wrote:LSD, MTEC Suspension, body-kit, short shift / tweaked ratio gearbox etc...fuzzy wrote:yep ,that about sums it up for sure but whats a sport? a 325i with a black headlining and a different ratio gearbox?junkman wrote:the e30 325i is a better car any day the ford is just a ford sierra with a 2 litre turbo lumpin it...

Might have been the first not sure but ford were the ones to get the ball rolling
how do you mean the m5 came out in 86 2 years before the 4 door cossie came out in 88 so surely bmw got the ball rolling because they had the balls to create and sell a high performance 4 door car with a competition bred engine?

Aren't you forgetting the fast Mercs of the '70s, e.g. 450SEL 6.9 ?

E28 M5 came out in 85, sierra cosworth 3dr came out in 86, saphire 4dr in 88. Audi Quatro came out in 80 but is a coupe not a saloon.brettski wrote:Might have been the first not sure but ford were the ones to get the ball rolling

You can all forget about BMW and Audi being the first because FORD released the Cortina GT in 62 and the Lotus Cortina in 63!!!!

Ahh, but the first motorsport division ///M car was the e12 M535i. Hand-built no less. And yes obviously the M1 was first, but that wasn't a four door saloon so not really relevant in this discussion.bss325i wrote:E28 M5 came out in 85, sierra cosworth 3dr came out in 86, saphire 4dr in 88. tomti wrote:i was chatting to my mate tonight and as we have always been Ford nuts, but both love bmw's, we were wondering what sort of run for its money would a 325 sport give, say, a sapphire cossie?
both in standard states of tune.
What do you reckon?
The Cosworth would be an outright winner, if it were just down to speed alone......its much quicker!
To be a fair comparison, you would need a tip top example of both (which would be hard to find!) as i have been in poorly looked after ,standard examples of both and they were noticeably sh!te . Good ones and bad ones are night and day
Well remembered but that came out in 1980, when we are talking about the first preformance saloons a mk1 cortina GT with its cosworth developed cam profile, came out in 1962. Ford were making peformance saloons before BMW.tristan325 wrote:Ahh, but the first motorsport division ///M car was the e12 M535i. Hand-built no less. Have a look at 2nd page mate, my very nice sport got wasted by a very clean near standard sapphire cossie.csl wrote:tomti wrote:i was chatting to my mate tonight and as we have always been Ford nuts, but both love bmw's, we were wondering what sort of run for its money would a 325 sport give, say, a sapphire cossie?

Yeah, thats sort of my point.............some people try a car out and form a poor opinion on that car type and stick with it,when in reality they have sampled a neglected/badly/wrongly maintained car. When i first started looking for a tech 2 Sport and road tested it,i was gutted,it felt slower than i was expecting, whineing noises etc..........TBH it just about put me off buying one,but i kept looking and eventually bought (a good) one and the difference is staggering.Have a look at 2nd page mate, my very nice sport got wasted by a very clean near standard sapphire cossie.
