I've been told that you should never rn an e30 with the thermostat jammed open as coolant cannot get round one of the cylinders, i forget which one it is now, but the thermostat on an e30 also causes motion in the coolant in order to redirect flow. This is what i've been told anyway.

My 316i fuel problem again!

I have checked for leaks under the manifold but all fuel lines seem good. I have just found the text below on the internet, the bloke has a 1993 316i, does this sound correct and where is the cannister? " If you and your mechanic are 100% absolutely sure there is no fuel leak, then the smell is comi...

I had a similar problem with my 316 carb, turned out that this hunting is a common problem with the Pierbourg carburettor, you can do a webber conversion! I never bothered, I ran my 316 with a hunting idle for about 4 years!

My 316i tourer is doing about 199 miles on a full tank. Its an auto and seems to run fine. The temp gauge usually sits around just above blue which is obviously wrong. Also I can smeel petrol on my oil filler cap?? Any ideas would be appreciated, its costing me shed loads in petrol!!!!!

Are there any instructions on the Net for replacing the belt on an M40?

I swapped from the 323i to 316i cos the old 2.3 rusted away and this 316i is a lot tidier. I thought it would be more economical, but there isn't much difference! maybe because its an Auto?

thanks for the replys,
