Re: M3 1 OF 148 RARE

You have Tony and Barney Halse to thank for that. Indeed. Old single row chains (think E12 5 series) did have a recommendation for 100K AFAIK BMW themselves don't even have a recommended change date for the Duplex type. IIRC It's either the same part number or same design as the chain used on all t...

Don't forget Nigel Moseley, not only has he been claiming since the mid 90's that E30 M3's need the timing chain replaced at a 100k but also that E36 M3's do as well.

As far as I know it's just a draught excluder on all of them it just newer bmw's have it stuck to the roof, if the stick on one's are the same thickness it should do the same job. The sunroof I'm replacing has a lot of rust under the seal, so eliminating the u bend of the e30 seal which could hold w...

alternative sunroof seal

Has anyone fitted a sunroof seal off of a newer bmw where they are stuck to the roof instead of pushed onto the sunroof, as they are a lot cheaper than the e30 one. And I wouldn't be surprised if the standard seal is at least partly responsible for the rust problems.

Hate to disagree, but the mirrors can come apart. If you take a large drill bit(10-12mm) and drill the top of the melted plastic rivets this will leave a stub of plastic with a 3mm hole down the middle. You can then take the mirror completly to bits and paint the individual parts. When you need to ...

would't drilling the plastic where it's melted to the metal separate them then you could just bond the plastic back on to the metal when you've painted them.

I never understood having fog lights on when it wasn't foggy as all the ones I've ever had did nothing to help you see where you was going, the only time I thought having lights in the bumper was useful was on my 205 as it had driving lights which came on with the main beam.
