I used EBC yellows in the past then switched to Pagid RS29's on my IS track / occasional road car. Long story short the Pagid is more expensive but stops better and lasts longer with less fade in my experience. Pagid is the only pad I'll use now. Only down side is they can be a bit squealy if you ar...

IS transmission noise

Bit of a strange one this. My standard 91 IS has developed a noise that sounds like a relay clicking that increases / decreases with speed. Its not related to engine rpm and doesn't matter which gear its in, only the overall speed of the car. The noise seems to come from the transmission tunnel area...

Re:

If this GB is still on then I am definitely interested. However I have run LEDA coilovers in the past on my E30 race car and the rears did catch in the arches. I want to be sure that this won't happen with the Gaz GGA units as they are going on a road/trackday car this time and I want to keep it a l...

The Wellers were off Geeman's 318is, my brother had it as a trackday toy a short while back but he prefers the 15" Crossies so I pilfered the Wellers and am glad I did as they look spot on. I haven't posted on here for ages as I have sold all my E30's now (boo, hiss) got a new job and bought an E36 ...

Looks good mate, I did this on my G-reg 318i about 5 years ago. It doesn't last too long unfortunately because in hot weather 8) the tape shrinks and exposes the chrome and then the rain gets underneath and it starts to peel off  Mine lasted about 6 months before I had to re-do it but for a cou...

I read the article last night, it's always sad to see such a great car written off whatever the circumstances. Glad you're ok though Martin and after seeing the damage to your M3 it makes me feel a bit better about doing 100+ miles every day up and down the A1 - old Bemmers are hard as nails.

My 1990 325i sport sailed through it's MOT a couple of months back which I was really pleased about as it is an ex Kumho Class D racer! I just had to make sure all the lights were working and the horn was re-connected etc. Mine only has 1 Recaro race seat in the front with a Sabelt 4 point harness a...

My Brother Ben raced in kumho for a few years, 01/02/03 I think, then he did Seloc for a season. I helped him build and run the cars but a lack of funds and time stopped play :( (too much work and studying). I run his old racer as a track day car now. the new class power to weight limits are making ...

Still talking to Alcon about a proper trackday/race set up to fit under 15" BBS wheels. It is being seriously considered as there are so many potential applications for the kit. Lots of E30's in Kumho BMW (class C), All the Seloc cars could use them (if they are legal?) and there is the RWD challeng...

I run Pagid Yellow pads (from performance braking - 01600 713117) with braided hoses and Castrol SRF dot 5 fluid with standard BMW discs on my 325i sport. I've taken out the fogs to get some cold air ducting onto the back of the brakes too. This set up works really well (compared to standard) withou...

Yes it is Alcon. I've been speaking to a UK distributor about it for a short while who was unaware fo the E30 situation and wanted to know more about it with a view to getting a kit together - interested?

I have heard only bad things about Wilwood, warping discs etc. the general opinion seems to be that they are cheap for a reason but I have no personal experience other than several Kumho racers advising me not to bother with them. I run standard BMW discs with Pagid yellow pads, Castrol SRF dot5, br...

E30 Brakes - The Holy Grail

I have been talking with a very well known brake manufacturer and highlighted the gap in the market for a decent set of 4-pot front brakes for E30's that retain a 4 bolt stud pattern and can fit under 16" wheels (anything bigger ruins the handling imho). I am trying to get a more accurate idea of de...

Just had the same problem with my 318i. Turning the switch anticlockwise dims the lights and eventually switches them off if working properly. When mine was full clockwise all illumination cut out (faulty switch). Sounds daft but try giving it a bit of a wiggle and it may come back to life. Failing ...

ABS fuse/relay

I have done a search but not found what I am looking for. The fuse box listing doesn't seem to be of any use for this either. I want wire in a switch so that i can turn the ABS on and off on my 1990 325i sport, on for raod use and off for track use to try and save my pads. Has anyone done this or go...

I'm going to Snett with him on the 28th and will be dishing...
