Re:

Thanks for all the help fellas, I went to look at the engine last night - numbers stamped on the block next to the LH mount are as follows: 20 6KA 24424533 (I presume the "20" is the number I am interested in) I didn't take the rocker cover off to see the number on the head, but there was no number ...

Difference between 2.0 and 2.5 M20 engines

Hi, I'm looking for a new M20 for my 325i - a mate of a mate is breaking a car that is badged as a 320i, but he assures me the engine was replaced with a 2.5. How do I make sure this is the truth? Is there difference I can see easily - e.g. throttle body, ECU, etc? Can I tell from the engine number?...

Hi Mate - I send you a PM on this but not sure if you got it. Count me in for a rack as well. I don't mind paying the deposit up front etc.

Cheers,
CGL

Question for those using Megasquirt - wiring into an E30

Right - the success you guys are having with your Megasquirt systems has inspired me to have a go myself! I've had big problems with both the fuelling and ignition in my 3 litre stroker ever since it was installed - the MAF and Unichip conversion just does't seem to be able to cope with it along wit...

Oversize head gasket

Lads, I am running an M20 with 3 litre Ireland Engineering stroker kit, and unfortunately it looks like it is time for a strip-down and re-build. Fitting the kit meant doing a 1mm overbore, so I am wondering where the best place is to get an oversize head gasket for the engine. I know you can get cu...

The M60/62 is a sweet engine allright. I have been idly musing over this conversion for a while. As far as I can make out the main problems associated with the swap are as follows: - The sump gets in the way of the steering rack. All non-M5 BMW V8's use a recirculating ball steering box mechanism fo...

You probably have a couple of options that are easier/cheaper than replacing the standard H1's with combined H4's or whatever: 1) Headlight bulb technology has come along a bit since these lights were manufactured, I also think that bulb effectiveness can deteriorate over time - so you could simply ...
