Re: What other engine 4 cylinder would you fit to a E30
Hyabusa turbo. Might find rallying it kills the gearbox/clutch though? Redtop, NA Cossie, Duratec, S2000 are probably your best NA options for a 4-pot rally car. No problem getting RWD bits for any of those. As someone else has mentioned, the MSA rules on drivetrain swaps are changing in the next ye...

Alex, have you considered glueing your intercooler together or at least the end cans to the core? I found some Loctite epoxy with absurd strength (something like 20N/mm^2 adhesion to clean aluminium, tensile test. Stronger in shear), it was also stable to well over 100degC, resistant to water and oi...

pre facelift 318 M10 carbed car is 995KG with Engine. Strip it out and seam weld the whole thing you may get it down to 500kgs If those figures are right 900kg (un-caged) should be pretty easy then without touching the glass or wheels. Re: BIKE ENGINED E30
Much is made of the 'peaky delivery' of a bike engine, it's nonsense... you have a 6spd sequental box so if you want more power you just shift down, it takes a fraction of a second. My BEC pulls like a train from 2nd to 5th (it lights the tyres if you push it in first and 6th is merely quick rather ...

Anyone else ever get the feeling that VW made the G-LADER supercharger as one of their "for the sake of it" exercises? It certainly looks like that doesn't it. It couldn't be much more complicated or fragile yet doesn't perform much better than the simple roots blowers. I guess the justification ma...

If you can press new ball joints into the arms it'll save you about £18 a side; the steel control arms are designed to have this done. Cool, I can but I'd have to drive to a friend's garage to use the press. Whole arms (no messing about) are tempting if the quality is ok. The rear rubber void bus...

My suspension has taken a bit of a pounding of late so it needs some work :chuckle: It's a (very low) budget build. Front is OEM 45mm struts, platforms moved up 35mm. E34 520 springs. Rear is stock + 17mm spring spacer platforms. When it works the handling is ok if a little vague but the ride height...

I tried looking up the IC in the coding chip, but couldn't find a data sheet on it. What part no. is it? M20B20 Overheating problems
It's a standard 1990 M20B20 abused for navigational rallying. Basically it wont regulate its temperature, on long downhill runs it gets cold (just above the blue) but under load and even at idle it shoots up into the red. First instinct was broken fan or mud on the rad (it's used off road) but they ...

Pity none of those make clear how they dealt with the clutch, the best of the fake lambo motors still has the flexplate fitted in all the pics. Custom flywheel and clutch would cost more than the motor, wonder if any other stock flywheel will fit

Why not choose a lighter or shorter engine if you're worried about the weight distribution or are you just after a straightforward, well documented conversion so set on the M30? Next best option is going to be moving everything you can as far back as possible. Obviously there'll come a point where y...

Ok, if you're only wanting to look at the big blower op pressure as the reference signal that simplifies matters.
