Re: Front springs for a 2.5l TDS project
it would be similar in weight to an M20 engine, just the turbo and intercooler heavier ie, not much. Start with 325i springs and see where you are. cheers mate that is what Iv'e gleaned today from the moment I raised my head above the the parapet, actually I think the springs from an auto might be ...

Re: E30 Convertible with Diesel engine
I'm flattered Brian. Some time ago I muted this idea and received not a little derision.Nevertheless I will try to compile an account and with the help of my more comp savy son present it to all.Actually the chance to share the challenges and triumphs is welcome!

Re: E30 Convertible with Diesel engine
It's worth a try but my initial thought is that I think the e36 has the oil sump at the rear hence the crossmember may be in a different position relative to the engine, still thanks

Re: E34 525tds starting problem
The fuel pick-up in the tank has a O ring that may allow air to leak in. Thisis more of a problem when the tank is low

Re: E30 Convertible with Diesel engine
The on board computer immobiliser is different to EWS Surely the E36 engine arms would be the perfect choice? You may be right, the wiring diagram and ecu pin list shows the immobilisation signal coming from the on-board computer. Is the on-board comp just being told what is happening while the EWS...

Re: E30 Convertible with Diesel engine
what springs did you use up front Leaf? :) thats good ! Bryanslu what car did you get the engine from? If its from a E34 then you may see a wiring diagram (see link below) but you should find that ECU pin 45 black/violet wire is the input signal from the EWS to the ECU. Disconnect this and the engi...

Front springs for a 2.5l TDS project
I have almost finished building the project, a M51 in a E30 touring.
The question is what front springs do I use? The M51 ought to be heavier than a M20 but how much. Would the springs from a M20 auto take more weight? This is the last hurdle to get her rolling

yeah there aint nothing wrong with a bit smoke if you know that, thats the turbo just coming on song and the turque, you will feel it. All with the benefit of near zero fuel cost, diesel is far easier to acquire I would use a tall diff ratio to make a good mile muncher. Does anyone know the tallest ...

I did this conversion on a 318, other issues to consider. You can unbolt the pedal box from a manual car in the breakers in 1/2 hour £10 max, You will need the flywheel/spigot bearing, because the auto has a torque converter. You will need the propshaft of the 2.5 manual. The front springs on the ...

There would be many challenges, the prop length, clearances, the sump etc... I was hoping to get some insight into the dash electrics, ie the econometre, revcounter, that might be different. I have no problem with the diesel sound mixed in with the straight rumble, given a potential 180bph and some ...

the feasability of dropping a 25tds engine in a e30
I am thinking of converting an e30 to diesel. I like the sound of the 2.5tds. There was a e30 diesel sold on the continent ( the 324td) so the engine should fit
