The bit that is missing is ment to be like that. that part of the manifold shares the same stud as the thermostat.

std piston is 79.98mm so order std piston rings
i think piston to wall clearance is between
0.01 to 0.04 mm

Ive been collecting info for the conversion my self. what i have found out is there is two types 525e engine the early engines before 85 uses a type 200 head and has domed pistions a 325 head 885 casting will not fit without maching the block and replaceing the pistions. Ive just looked at the head that was fitted to my 525e engine and its a type 200 so will a 885 casting head still bolt on or not.

I have the later eta engine with concaved pistons is it possible to just bolt a 325 head on to it or will i have to use a 320 or 323 head.

ive just finished replacing my trailing arm and antiroll bar bushes i use wd40 to get the old bushes off. then i used washing up lquid to put the new bushes on they should go straight on.
