Rev Limiter on '85 318i
Looking to adjust the factory setting of my Rev Limiter on my 1985 318i. I've heard that there are articles on the web on how to raise the redline on this motor. I went to the bimmerdiy.com site, but could not access that article. Is there anyone out there that has done this and has step-by-step doc...

Re: Laps around Watkins Glen International (USA) in my e30 3
Cheers Neil, That whine was from the differential. My co-driver changed the 3.9 ring and pinion for a 4.10. I think he shimmed it wrong. With the season at a close, and the snow about to fly, we'll opened up the diff over the winter and redo it. It was a lot of fun. I'm looking to get more out of th...

Laps around Watkins Glen International (USA) in my e30 318i
Attached is a short clip from a 3hr endurance race at Watkins Glen a few weeks back. You are onboard a 1985 e30 318i with M10, locked 4.10 rear, coilovers (550# fronts, 700# rears), revamped bilsteins, powerflex bushings all around, and solid rear subframe bushings, and cornerweights dialed to withi...

StarChip or SuperChip for the 1.8L M10
Does anyone out there have any experience with either of these chips? The StarChip claims 126bhp for the 8valve 318i. The SuperChip claims 123bhp on their website. I am looking for any and all feedback on tuning my electronics for this dinosaur. I'd prefer to solder in a chip, but am interested in a...

Jagermeister-Sponsored BMWs of the Past - Proper Paint Code
As I build my Jager Racer, I am now to the point of picking the correct color. It comes down to #002-Colorado Orange, #022-Inka Orange, #028-Phoenix Orange, or #351-Kyalamiorange. Each of these are Standard paint, not metallic. I cannot find any of these actual colors online. Only the code numbers a...

Aico, I am building a full on track car. I used to race an '82 e21 until she gave up the ghost at a 2.5hr enduro race in May. I was given an '85 318i. I've swapped over the cage, fuel cell, seat, and seat. As the suspensions are different, I need to find an e30 coilover setup. I am looking at what o...

e30 M3 Group N Coilover Setup
Is anyone running the E30 M3 Group N Turner Motorsport Coil Over Racing Suspension ( http://www.turnermotorsport.com/html...D=E30M3TMSRACE ) on a non-M3 e30?
I've been told that the front wheel bearing would have to be changed to the M3's.
Thanks.

thanks for the input. JimmyC, I've never hear of Gaz or Leda coilovers. May be available only on the other side of the pond. I loose 65lbs in race weight by moving from the e21 to the e30. Thanks for the well wishes. Taffy, I know of a guy that rents out race-prepped Mazda Miatas (very popular in th...

'85 e30 Race Buildup - Feedback?
After the death of my e21, following 5 successful years on the track (3 enduro championships), I have decided to build an early 318i and continue racing in ITB (U.S. SCCA club racing). I was giving a free 1985 car (owner lost the title) and have stripped it to the shell. I am currently in the proces...

Aftermarket Rims for the e30 ix ???
I'm curious if folks on this list who drive an e30ix have changed up their rims for aftermarket ones? I'd also like to know if you sized up to 16's or 17's and what offsets they are. I've read that the 15" ix rims have a 41mm offset, unlike the rest of its e30 brethren. Prices and where you got them...

Is the Oil Pressure Sending Unit on an ix model unique?
The "last" thing on the mechanic's to-do list to get my "new" 1988 ix (w/217,000mi) back home is to change out the oil pressure sending unit. The whole underside of the motor was covered in oil. I powerwashed it, ran the motor for @15 minutes and shut it down. When the oil settled back into the pan,...
