Not positive on this one but my mate over filled his punto sporting with oil one time, he ended up with oil coming out the his air filter. it was just the build up of pressure as there was too much oil in it and it just blew most of his seals. im not saying its the same reason but it sounds similar....

whats the difference with the 525 m30 "big six" ive read about? Goddam it theres too many variations for each model! what 525 bottom end would fit a 325i? I know about the 525e 2.7 route and so far have been unsuccessful in finding one so im trying to find a regular bottom end. ive found a P plate 5...

so the 525's were m20 2.5 up to 89 then they changed to 24v's after that? 24v's are the M50 then?

i doubt the bmw bell housing will bolt onto a toyota block...if your willing to spend the money and get the block bored and tapped in the necessary places for the 'box to bolt into, but that seems a lot of hassle when a prop shaft is easier to get butchered to fit...as some one has already said, cho...

Yeah scrap that idea, they are not covered anyway, cos i couldnt see them on the exhaust side i thought they were covered, on investigation there arent holes next to the head bolts on the exhaust side, well there is one...

im sure its big ends, gonna take sump off...

See on the 325, next to the head bolts, there are small holes, i take it these are oil ways? a few of my head bolt washers are covering these holes, could this be affecting the oils travel into the head causing my rattle? (see post "rattle after rebuild") the haynes manual doesnt say anything about ...

it was only a top end rebuild, i havent touched the bottom end, so i dont know what condition it was in anyway!

checked timing numerous times before i built rest of engine it was fine, i then stripped it all down after i rebuilt it to have a final check and its fine.

Megs, will defo check that tomorrow. ill take it off and give it the degreaser treatment!

What about oil, is 15w-40 too thick for my engine? its done 114k...the previous owner said he ran with it, should i maybe use thinner stuff?

By oil spray bar, you mean the thin pipe running above the cam?

My oil pressure seems fine, the light goes off straight away when it starts up.

I will check that spray bar tomorrow, give it all a lubricate before rocker cover goes on and see what its like...
