Hurray!, problem solved, though i've no idea how i did it, rubber boot leading to the inlet manifold removed and checked, no leaks, disconnected the 'Idle air stabliser valve' (which is linked to the left of the rubber boot) i cleaned the contacts and a spray of WD40, put it all back together and he...

Thanks for all the advice, didnt get to look at the car today as visitors turned up for the day and forcing cider down my face. so will let you all know how i get on with car tomorrow..... Now back to the cider

Thanks matey, I'm gone have a good look at the problem tomorrow and hopefully will get a few suggested fixes

Sick Cabriolet - Idling problems-help please
Can any one help please? I have an '88 325i cab that has come out from winter hibernation 2 weeks ago, running fine until today! I've driven it for 1/2 hour then it was parked for about an hour. When i started her again she idled at 1200rpm and not the usual 800 or so At idle it revs briefly to 1500...

Thanks for the comments, and the advice NayC. going to get original BBS's on 16" if i can, with out blowing the overdraft! First things first lets get it purring properly........ all the time!! otherwise some idiot in a Pug 106 is gunna take me on at the lights and probably win!!

They're Schnitzer ones? They're not my thing. Don't look too bad, but could be better. IMO cross-spokes on M3s don't work. 11 spoke look cool. Help! despite many attempts to use a pic of my latest toy as my signature. I've now got as a signature an image relating to IMAGESHACK.
I've follwed all the advice on the forumhelp pages but I'm not getting very far.

thanks for your help, you were right a very slight break in the fuse number 21. That was the easiest electric fault i've ever fixed!!! Usually shout ,curse followed by an expensive trip to the auto electrician, very grateful.

Thanks, will take a closer look at the headlamps, dont recall seeing such coloured pipes, and certainly none attched to the switch. sounds like i should leave well alone and get a different panel.

I've put genuine 16" alpinas on mine, had to buy another car to get 'em and another £160 to have them refurbed. Car drives real well on them and you can lock the centre plate aswell as the wheel studs. Good luck trying to find a set tho!
