Re: Project Frankenstein. . { 320i auto to 335i manual }

The Tweeter speaker wires are usually connected down in the footwell near the kick panel speakers, I connected mine down their and used after market tweeters with the inline filters already connected. They are often not connected simply because people have run their own speaker wires down there and...

Re: Project Frankenstein. . { 320i auto to 335i manual }

Nice work on the engine bay and clocks! :P They certainly look like speaker cables... They are cables for the tweeters, but the crossovers won't be present unless tweeters were specified when it was built. Ben Thanks Ben, I'm guessing they weren't as no tweeters and pods were fitted. Looks like I'l...

Re: S38B36 Laguna Touring

Brilliant work Liam, I relocated my P.A.S reservoir slightly lower and further forward by making an 'L' shaped bracket mounting to the original location, to allow for the air intake pipe clearance.

Excellent work, I think Car Builder Solutions do a remote reservoir kit you can link to it with pipes and elbow joints, or some 2002 models have a remote reservoir.

Re: Car still has pover when key is removed

Check ignition switch is actually switching off.

Has it had any aftermarket wiring, alarm or stereo? they are prime suspects for incorrect connections.

You do know the electric windows should work when the front doors are open, a comfort relay powers them up when the door is open.

Re: Windscreen replacement?

Putting a rubber mounted screen in is a lost art these days of bonded windscreens, some window fitters have never seen one. There's a lot out there that says put the rubber in first then work the rubber round the glass from the bottom. Personally I have see that trash the rubbers and chip the winds...

Re: E30 lights always on

I would look at the stereo wiring, Option 1/ people often mistake the dash illumination wire for an earth and connect it incorrectly, the next time the lights are switched on they can short and melt part of the loom causing all sorts of problems. Option 2/ or they may have just connected the illumin...

Re: DME Issues

So for the first time in my 15 years of ownership, my 320i let me down yesterday and wouldn’t spark. Seems I was getting no signal from the DME to the DME relay. Then suddenly it kicked in and the car turned over. Obviously then it was hard to diagnose further if it’s not faulting. So I thought the...

Re: Screen wash problems

Check in the fuse box. Probably some thing stuck under the relay shorting it out. Ben Exactly this, usually a fuse falls out and gets under the wash wipe relay. If everything else is OK it might be worth checking behind the stereo especially if it has been out recently, the loom runs behind it and ...

Re: Running rich next step?

yes it is, the vacuum pipe can split causing it to run at the higher fuel pressure.

With the engine running fuel pressure should be 3.0 bar, under acceleration it should increase to 3.5 bar

Re: Running rich next step?

I would start by checking the signal from the blue temperature sensor to the DME control unit, it is common for the round wiring plug connecter under the inlet manifold to get corroded and affect the reading at the control unit. I would still rectify the two air leaks as well. Test the function of t...

check the resistance of the actual sensor at various temperatures against the following charts, also check the same resistances at the ECU pinouts, the variation should be minimal, if there is a great difference you will be looking at a wiring fault usually at one of the connecters. Re: Cylinder 1 Inlet Valve Rocker broken

I have seen camshafts and rockers changed with engine in situ, but for what it takes it can be just as easy to remove the cylinder head. To do it in situ, the bonnet has to come off, then drain coolant and remove rad hoses and fan, cambelt and top cover then undo engine mounts and lift up the engine...

Check the blower motor bearings are not sticking, often the resistors burn out because the motor bearings are starting to seize causing a higher current draw, use some '3 in one' oil to free them off.
