Re: New brake discs starting to warp also?

Get a run out check carried out on the discs to see how bad they are (and work out which is causing the problem). If this confirms that a disc/s is warped, check out the state of the caliper and also take the disc off and check the hub itself. I had the same problem as yourself and ended up wrecking...

Always found Trainers in Swansea to be about the best dealer.

For an independent specialist, B & R are excellent for most jobs.

Re: front end wobble under braking?

Not 100% sure on these, but you could probably get a set of ATE power discs (which are very good) from euro car parts cheaper when you consider the postage charge as well.

Re: front end wobble under braking?

Apart from the million to one chance of a warped hub (search for my previous story!), one thing to bear in mind when it comes to discs warping is that most e30 calipers are probably up to retirement age without any recondition or overhaul. Check these carefully before installing new discs!

The meguiars gold class carnuba wax works really well. Also used the quick clay kit and was very impressed with the results.

Re: Electric Sunroof Problem

I've managed to take the sunroof seal of my car which is being collected to be scrapped over the next few days. It's only about 18 months old so it's still in good nick. Pm me your address, and I'll be happy to send it to you if you want to try this out! Let me know if you want any of the other smal...

Re: Electric Sunroof Problem

Sorry - I think I described that a bit wrong. When I changed the seal, I thought that I was going to have to manually slide the sunroof (using the allen key) as the slide function had not worked for ages. While the old seal was off, I tried the motor and it worked perfectly. It appeared that the old...

Re: Electric Sunroof Problem

Just a thought from experience but how old is the sunroof seal?

I only ask as I had the same problem about three years ago - I took the sunroof seal off to replace anyway (as the old one was shot) and suddenly found that the sunroof slide function worked again!

Not sure if anyone can help but what would be an average price be for a 318is air flow meter, ecu and abs ecu / hydraulic pump?

I had a claim processed a couple of weeks ago for my car which was written off - the insurance companies claims department asked me over the phone what I thought the car was worth and then made me an offer based on this value (after looking at the stacks of history I sent them on the car). In my opi...

Re: how to make my white car shine.....

I used the meguiars gold class stage 3 polish - works well with the wax. You could also use the quick clay kit they sell as well. This gets rid of minor black specs on the paint surface and does help with the overall look.

Hope this helps!

Electric sunroof removal

I'm in the process of breaking my car down but can anyone tell me what parts to remove from an electric sunroof in order to provide the right kit for someone looking to convert a manual roof?

Thanks,

Re: wet footwell , common leaks ?

One common problem (a search should find plenty of previous posts on this if you need extra info) is the drain tube on the bulkhead under the bonnet. This should allow water to drain from the area at the bottom of winscreen where the vents are in to the engine bay, but this becomes blocked and allow...

Yes, it was a 318is - it's the one in the avatar (taken when it was perfect!). I've checked the damage again today and it seems that the car has run over something big (roadside barrier?) from the front end to about halfway down the car. The car did'nt escape the curse of the salvage yard though - a...

Just to add on the spark plug subject - the items you'll get from a bmw main dealer are the same NGK items you can buy from halfords. The only difference is that they have a BMW and NGK logo on the plug (they even work out to be about the same price).

Re: Anyone know the rules re. scrapping a vehicle?

I scrapped a car without the V5 - I agreed with the salvage guy that I would notify the dvla as the v5 had not arrived for the car. I then contacted the dvla, and they told me just to send a letter with the cars details and date that it was scrapped - job done!
