Re:

Just to let you know this one has gone quiet due to an annoying electrical short that has so far destroyed two ECU's Ant is tracking down between his other jobs. I am also starting work on an additonal, bigger blow-off valve to manage pressure surge on throttle lift-off. Watch this space - initial d...

Some interesting points there. I have often used the - its more efficient to recycle than buy new approach to justify keeping my 17 year old Supra and 22 year 944 on the road. Never been a fact based decision, just seemed sensible as well as being able to drive around in something that is a bit diff...

Re:

Just about to leave for Ants - initial running looks very positive. Final issues to sort are related to controlling pressures when the throttle is closed. Caused because the throttle-body is after the supercharger.

Re:

Get a ruler out an measure it just to make sure. OK not accuaret to parts of a millimeter but will tell you if its 120mm, 123mm etc.

Was at Ants yesterday (thanks Ant for the bank holiday time) working on the Racecar E30/Eaton M90 project and yes he has an ali decomp. plate hanging on the wall.

Have just finished the installation of an Eaton M90 on a 2.7 which should be going to Ant in a few days for re-mapping. Happy to talk/help-out with instalation of similar.

There is another thread under 'Engine Swaps / Forced Induction' with a few pics etc. Take a look and let me know.

Not worried about the hosting, its the command/syntax to embedding a pic in the post as opposed to a link.

Bit more progress today with the fabrication of blower mounting brackets on the spare block. Should have the alternator working in its new position this weekend so another step closer.

Good point jk re Aston boost pressure and relative cc of both engines. Simple but effective way of getting things close without too much head-work. I'll get Ross to find out from his HWM friends.

To clarify boost and pulley sizes. The 2.7 needs to draw (without any super/turbo charging) 1.35Lts of air per crank revolution, assuming 100% volumetric efficiency. So the M90 will only be delivering an additional 0.15Lts of air to the engine with a 1:1 pulley. Which is an additional 11% and theref...

I would agree with the other posts. IF there is a definate lip at the top of the bore it is shot and needs a re-bore. You will then need a new set of pistons to match. However, be carefull that the lip is not just carbon deposist etc. Clean the top of a couple of cylinders to make sure and also meas...

Is this a bare block or does it still have the crank, pistons etc. in place? If so I would strip the lot to the component parts and do the following... 1 - Check that the crank shaft journals are not scored or worn/out of round. If you do not have the equipment to do this take it to a decent machine...

Have to say that from that angle it looks suspiciously like a crack that has started in the corner of the valve pocket - corners often act as stress raisers. Can't be sure without seeing it in the flesh though.

If those are 2.7 Eta pistons I think I still have a set in the garage. Let me know.

Hi Lentec, Am also thinking of adding a supercharger to a 2.7 conversion I've recently completed for a m8. Had been thinking of driving with a toothed belt (similar to a cam belt but wider) a number of companies supply these together with a wide range of pulleys. Obviously the pulleys would need som...

I've used Magnatec for years in turbo and non-turbo cars and all seems OK, its also not exactly cheap (what I'd call cheap) so am intrigued as to why you suggest to avoid it. Currently have a Toyota Supra 3.0 turbo that has over 225K miles and has only ever had magnatec in it. Not doubting your stat...

First off the M20 top end invariably ticks, they just do. If the top end has recently been re-built it will be worth re-checking/setting the clearances - make sure you do this with the engine stone cold. Also I could read your post as indicating that a worn cam has been used with a different set of ...
