Just go to a BMW dealership and they should have a master set and will then order you the correct one or might even sell you their one and they will just order themselves another. No need to start hammering :)

Re: e46 autobox fluid refil ?

From cold fill the gearbox until the fluid just starts coming out of the bung, refit the bung. Then run the car up to between 30 and 50 degrees. While running it up to temp run it through all the gears a few times. Then at the right temp undo the bung again and top up until just running out again. Ma...

Re: e46 autobox fluid refil ?

First make sure you have the correct autobox oil, the only reason you need it connected to the computer is to make sure its at the right temperature ( 30 to 50 degress ). Make sure the car is level too. Check the level at idle speed and in park. You can then undo the level fill bung and top up as re...

Re: Anyone Driven A 325Ti Compact

I used to have a E46 325ti, was a really good car. They have a good m54 engine, reliable and handle quite well too. I took mine around the ring ( totally standard ) and it did sub ten min lap. Nice and refined and good on fuel if driven carefully too. Can pick them up for a decent price now, i do mi...

Re: 328i sport head gasket

Also replacing the engine cyclone breather could cure the problem, i would do that first then i would do what Andboy says, change oil and filter first and give it a proper long run and see how things go from there. No point in doing head work if not needed.

The gearbox problem is quite common. Parts to repair are cheap enough and only takes 30 mins when the box is out. Easy fix.

It could have stripped some of the teeth off the cambelt. Would remove the belt and inspect. Have a look at the valve timing first to see if its moved.

Another E30 ended its days early. I brought this for my father-in-law to replace the last E30 that he had run into the ground. He had only had this 6 months. If you are after VW Golf size car in diesel and on a budget of around 4 grand you could get a 98-99 318tds compact. Cheap car to run and if your missus don't like big cars she will be fine with this.

I would check the wiring loom near the boot hinge, the wiring often breaks and shorts together. Pull the rubber protection off the loom and take a look, a good place to start.
