Re: Electric Fan on E30

Thanks for all replies to date - Original engine blew Head Gasket (due to inattention to cooling..) then got lucky and got another (absolute corker) original C2 2.7i engine shipped over from Germany with 100,000 Kilometres so just 62500 Miles. Re: Electric Fan on E30

Reason is to aid cooling and I thought electric fan would be more effective and reliable. Being a 2.7 it produces more heat and on last engine the head gasket went.

Electric Fan on E30

I have a C2 2.7 and wish to fit an electric fan, I understand aircon fan from an E34 will do the job. Trying to find out about electrical connections particulary temp sensor ie whether it'll need additional wiring or can just use existing sensor / connections. Anyone have a link to a comprehensive g...

Re: Heater/blower unit removal

Hi gents - I need to replace the heater core but looks like the brake linkage is in the way of it sliding out. Is it easy enough to remove and replace this as I don't want to touch it unless have to. Core rusty (leaked out via valve body I think probably due to increased pressure for circulation due...

One man and his ALPINA C2 2.7

Cheers for all valuable inputs so far, don't worry about being off-track.. still value input. Interesting range of opinions on Poly bushing, didn't know about Alpina spec bushing, if still available thats what I'll do, in which case I'll have a brand new set of polys to sell! Except subframe bushes ...

Viscous coupling is reverse thread, can't remember size of nut, but you have to give it a sharp tap/s (inertia etc)
The zone is ace..

I had the same, the head overheated and cracked. I replaced the viscous coupling which I suspect to be the cause. Whilst at it I also replaced the Water Reservoir cap, thermostat (note there is a bleed valve on top of the thermo housing to bleed air from may want to try this). I am considering an au...

Six Branch and Quick Rack Conversion

Anyone have any experience of a Quick Rack eg the E36 Rack conversion and a good six branch manifold on a 325 M20 engine. I have the engine out at momemnt on my C2 2.7 and would like to do both. But as the E36 option means the linkage is different to standard I wonder if six branch will be ok in con...

cheers, as a relatively new-user of Forum pleasantly surprised at speed of responses. Since overheating problem I've had head repaired and reconditioned and was thinking in terms of a preventative measure for future use. I'll look out for the M3 fan or the Aircon fans then I guess.
Sounds good.

Suspect it was the Viscous coupling (now replaced) but in any case would prefer an Electric fan as this will still be effective in slow traffic etc

Anyone know of an Uprated Water Pump for M20 / Electric Fan

I have an Alpina C2 2.7 and i'm wondering if in order to improve cooling it's possible to get such a thing. Or maybe an Electric Fan kit. Since it was overheating that caused the previous head to crack. Cheers

A few years back I had a crash in a 1991 325 Mtech Sport. Driving straight along at about 60 ish ;-) , a woman turned right across my path. I hit her Fiesta throwing it out of the way, and bounced off towards the right across oncoming lane down a ditch and into a big concrete block head on that held...
