Rear seat removal after chemical spillage...
Evening, I'm just wondering how the rear seat (the backrest, not the cushion) can be removed on a 2 door e30? I need to get it off after a dodgy chemical leak in my boot last week, which has seeped through the bottom corner of the boot and under the rear seat. The cushion needs replacing and i recko...

Re: 318i - anything in particular to look for?
Cheers Smithy, what does the shaking at 1500rpm mean? Major problems?
Also, re: the K&N air filter, I'd avoid anything with one of these, but it's an oldish bloke selling it and he says it's totally standard, so hopefully hasn't been tampered with at all.

318i - anything in particular to look for?
Morning...just wondering what people's thoughts are on 318i E30s. I'm going to look at one tomorrow, which according to the advert looks very well looked after, clean and unmolested, if a little pricey at £750. I've had a 316i for 6 months, which has basically been a nightmare...is there a great d...

Another question - differential?
Here I go with yet another question: The cars a 1990 H 316i, 92000 miles. When driving I've been getting a sort of throbbing whine from the rear, it comes in at around 30mph, gets gradually higher in pitch as I get faster, and vanishes at around 60mph, presumably because the pitch is too high for me...

Cheers, it's been stored in a dry environment since I arquired it so rust shouldn't be an issue.
I'll try and test it tomorrow.

Fuel Pump question
I recently accidently bought the wrong fuel pump from a scrapyard (not entirely my fault, but I was in a rush so didn't have time to do any proper research into whether it was right or not), anyway, I never got round to taking it back so am planning on chucking it on ebay. I've read that if fuel pum...

Re: Please assist a new E30 owner
I've been having similar issues for a while, except mines the other way round, the more petrol there is the worse it runs. Once the warning light comes on it runs pretty well but anything over that and it's a nightmare. Most things have been checked, the fuel pump is making a racket so that's gettin...

Sorry for starting up another thread about my pain in the @rse 316i, but I just need a quick response about something i've just discovered... To sumarise, car runs pretty well on low fuel, but I've filled it up twice since i've owned it, and both times it has run like sh1te afterwards (dodgy idle, s...

Should revs drop when using electrical powered "stuff&q
Following on from all the problems my 316i has (in this thread: http://www.e30zone.net/modules.php?name=Forums&file=viewtopic&t=49337 I've just given it it's daily run to see if all the problems have miraculously cleared up by themselves, and noticed that while sat idling (at 1500rpm with added "pop...

Re: Can ANYBODY solve this bizarre problem?!?!?!???
You could try cleaning the electrical connections to the pump (with emery paper/contact cleaner spray), also looking at the fuel pump relay and fuse while you're at it. Also try taking the cover off and whacking the pump itself next time! I would have whacked the pump but didn't have a screwdriver ...

Re: Can ANYBODY solve this bizarre problem?!?!?!???
I think I might have (with help from the above responses!) traced this problem to the fuel pump, I've just got home from work so went to start the car after it's been sat snice last night. It started 1st time and the revs went up to 1500 but dropped down to a spluttery 600/700 straight away. I could...

Re: Can ANYBODY solve this bizarre problem?!?!?!???
Sounds reasonable to me...I could try syphoning/pumping some fuel out and see if there is any change. Would it be possible for the fuel pump to struggle more with a large amount of petrol in the tank..? There is a definate constant whine from that area but maybe the addition of fuel sends it a bit d...

Re: Can ANYBODY solve this bizarre problem?!?!?!???
Ok, I'll try that tomorrow...and it defo wasn't diesel!!! As for the fuel tank breather...it does run better with an emptier tank, it's filling the tank that has started the trouble off both times...cleaning the ICV seemed to sort it last time, and it's been fine since until tonight when i put fuel ...

Re: Can ANYBODY solve this bizarre problem?!?!?!???
Right...update, I've just re-connected the battery (only left it 45 mins or so but was eager to see if the whining noise was coming from the fuel pump area)... The car started but wasn't running well at all, spluttering and popping at a very weak sounding 600-700 rpm. There is a definate constant wh...

Re: Can ANYBODY solve this bizarre problem?!?!?!???
It did cross my mind to dis-connect the battery, so I've done that...how long should I leave it before I re-connect and try again? Bob_S...there is a pretty constant whining/humming sound, sometimes more of a "pulseing" sort of hum. I've not been able to work out where it's coming from though, it wa...

I'm currently looking for an AFM for my 1990 316i, and have got the part number from the unit on the car at the moment which is faulty. I presumed that the one currently on the car would be the right one, with part number 0280200205...however, I've just come across this list of part numbers here : h...

Mines just a standard 316i too, so maybe they're the same unit?
It;s the part number in my last post I'm after anyways, let me know if it's the same.

Is it a 316i? If it has a fully working Air mass sensor (AFM, whatever it's called!) part no 0280200205 I'll give you Ԛ£20 for that...then you've had all your goodies for nowt!

My first E30 was a 320i with the M20 B20 jetronic. You cant miss the ICV if it is fitted, connected just behind AFM and to Throttle body, in either a T or L shape. Yours should not have one fitted, you should have a thin vacum hose coming from the back of the intake manifold round to the throttle c...

Could anyone post a pic which shows where these 2 items are on an M20 engine? I've searched all over this and other sights to find a pic I understand, and failed (I'm a novice and not fully up on my abbreviations etc), I'm sure there's one somewhere but I'm b*ggered if I can find it!
Many thanks
