Re: What is a 540i manual worth?
Stay away from the E39s, the 540 is just a sofa with a big engine, and there is to much who can go wrong with it! E39 540is came with sports suspension as standard over here. Well sorted suspension for the type of car. Very far removed from a 'sofa' IMHO. In fact some people prefer the non-sport su...

Thanks Brian. Isn't the trim half way up the door ('bumper trim') diagram number: http://bmwfans.info/original/E30/tou/325i-M20/ECE/R/M/1989/07/mg-51/ill-51_0756/ The side skirt, as you'll know is in two parts as per diagram: http://bmwfans.info/original/E30/tou/325i-M20/ECE/R/M/1989/07/mg-51/ill-51...

Re: Plastic screws for sill trim part number help
Thank you Brian. Not the most interesting question on my part I'm afraid. The screws are at the back end of the door sill covering (side skirt) so I think the picture I was using ( http://bmwfans.info/original/E30/tou/325i-M20/ECE/R/M/1989/07/mg-51/ill-51_0655/ ) is correct. I can only think its No....

Plastic screws for sill trim part number help
Anyone know the part number for the two black plastic screws that go into the rear end of the bottom plastic sill trim (tourings and SEs) by the back wheel please. I can't see that they appear on the parts catalogue: http://bmwfans.info/original/E30/tou/325i-M20/ECE/R/M/1989/07/mg-51/ill-51_0655/ Th...

Re: Rust! Water in footwell
Have a look again. I doubt that you'll have any problem with the bonnet seal. I'd bought a new one and sealed it with a dab of silicone to get a perfect seal but still got drips into the areas around/below the bonnet hinges :( . The leak was not via the bonnet seal. The bonnet seal won't normally le...

Re: Rust! Water in footwell
If none of the above work then try pouring some water through the plastic scuttle vent grilles below the windscreen and see if any water seeps into the engine bay around the bonnet hinge area. If so, remove the plastic grilles (use your hands, pull downwards 3-4mm towards the engine bay and pop up f...

you need tools, shims, pressing equipment and THE SKILLS!! Kevo has all the above and more. He has done 2 diffs for me now and am more than happy with both. Not many K plated 325 tourings about (not to many Js either). I've never seen an L plated 325 touring. I wonder if production of the 325 tourings ceased before the smaller engined ones? There always seem to be quite a few green late 318is tourings about for some reason. Maybe the late plated 325s we...

Interesting seeing the prices in Germany and what's available (not a lot of choice for bone stock original cars anyway). Even amongst the cheapest at £8900 :o is an '87 with a damaged engine. I had similar problems on my old M3 (s14). We reckoned in the end it was a faulty water temperature sensor
mis-reading and sending the engine into a cold start cycle (overfueling).
Sorry if this has been mentioned before but I don't have time to read the whole thread.

Maxfield, IMHO I think the car will appeal to a wider number of buyers if you could swap the wheels, steering wheel, rear lights and mats to something closer to standard. The wheels in particular might scare some buyers off ( I recall these have been debated on this site before). Best of luck with t...

ECP are hopeless and its customer service even worse. Cheap in the short term but long term you'd wished you'd bought original equipment. That's my experience at least. Could GSF be any worse? Hard to think so and I certainly hope not.

Good luck. I could never really understand how water was coming into the engine bay from so high up before working out the above. This leak in particular can lead to water in the battery tray area and down the bulkhead to the big rubber gromit and so into the interior. I'd even bought a new rubber e...
