I had similar problems on my old M3 (s14). We reckoned in the end it was a faulty water temperature sensor

ECP are hopeless and its customer service even worse. Cheap in the short term but long term you'd wished you'd bought original equipment. That's my experience at least. Could GSF be any worse? Hard to think so and I certainly hope not.
