Re: 318 M40 steering pump problems
I`m no expert on pumps but it could very well be ,I think you just about have got your millage out of it too   Mart. I think you are about right there!. I might have sorted the issue for the moment. When I put the power steering belt back on I noticed that the pump's lower pivot bolt wa...

318 M40 steering pump problems
I am having a problem with the power steering pump on my 318i M40, all was well until I changed the cambelt recently. When I put it all back together again the power steering pump/steering was making 'groaning' noises when the wheel was turned either way. I had found it difficult to adjust the belt ...

Re: French 'running repairs' on '92 E30 Touring
Having seen some of the restoration work undertaken by others on this site I think I have been very lucky not to have had more to do. Having said that my 'brief' was to repair my daily driver in order to get it through its next 'controle technique' (MOT) rather than a full-on rebuild, I know one oft...

Re: French 'running repairs' on '92 E30 Touring
The wing quarter panel on the other, driver's side, was treated in the same way as shown in the previous post. A new piece was fabricated , welded in and painted. I f anything it was slightly easier having practiced on the passenger side. https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/pw/AL9nZEXiLRGyDY-eSuDGknMV...

318i M40 front crankshaft oil seal
Does anyone here have any practical experience of changing the front crankshaft oil seal on an M40 engine? In particular the removal of the crankshaft bolt. The BMW tool 112170 as recommended by the Haynes book blocks the flywheel ring gear and can only be used with the engine out or gearbox dropped...

French 'running repairs' on '92 E30 Touring
Having been told by my 'MOT' man here in southern France, down near Toulouse that my car had too much rust and too many holes for the new regulations I would have to get it repaired for the next time , that would be in two year's time... The list of work covered the usual things for an E30, driver a...

New member from the South of France 1992 318i Touring Lagunengrün
Hi, Though this is my new member introduction I have been lurking on the site for quite while, taking advantage of lots of very useful information. Mine is an E30 Touring, a LHD German/Austrian market vehicle purchased in Scotland, just prior to moving to France 18 years ago and is my 'daily' drive....
