Re: Radiator upgrades?

E36 m3 rad is big and an easy fit, just needs 2 small plastic rad mounts instead of one big and one small.........

However, as james says above, a standard 325i rad and cooling system in good condition will adequately cool an m20. if it won't, somethings not working right.

Re: S50 B30 in the 325i. Tragedies and transplants.

Sorry to hear of your misfortune. No brainer to buy back the salvage if you have the means to store and strip the car. The s50 is a great swap if done well. The s50 is an ///M engine, special and it feels it when one is running right, the bonus being you know the history. And one of the few that cou...

Re: Why I love this place

Love this place, theres no doubt it has changed over the last couple of years though, much quieter now, but its good to see the stalwarts still here. I rarely get on these days, so I'm partly responsible for the quietness. What really makes it are the people, it would seem that the e30 tends to attr...

Re:

A fuel pressure test rig costs about 10 quid to make, and will instantly pinpoint any fuel pressure issues. If you are going to use hose to replace the link between the pump and the cradle then make sure it is the correct hose. Most stuff is designed to carry fuel not be submerged in it. Do not allo...

Also the throttle stop is only to prevent the butterfly from wedging itself in the bore of the throttle body. It should be as close to being completely shut as possible without getting stuck. That's not quite what it says on the Wiki: "If you think the Throttle Stop has been tampered with, or you h...

Re: Very high idle

An engine can only idle in this way if it has the air to do so. You either have an air leak somewhere, or the ICV is passing air at a higher rate than it should. Also the throttle stop is only to prevent the butterfly from wedging itself in the bore of the throttle body. It should be as close to bei...

IMO keep it simple, there is a bosch FPR thats identical to the m20 3b one but its 3.5b instead so PNP if you desire a bump in pressure 0280160263. you probably will need the higher pressure as the m50 injectors only flow marginally higher at the same pressure but it might be all you need... Re: S50 help

Don't try and frankenstein the fuel breathers. Leave it as per e30, i.e. breather run to N/S engine bay. The e36 breather can be a nightmare pressurising and vacuuming the tank. throw the little valve away, then block then block the holes. It will throw a code, but thats all. I have just had real is...

Re: Running in procedure

Go hard or go home :D Just buy the cheapest oil you can, 5w or 10w 40, something from Lidl or similar. Fill it up, new filter. Run it at a fast idle, while you are checking for leaks, bleeding the coolant etc. As soon as you've done this get out and do about 10 miles 2000-4000 rpm, use full throttle...

Re: 55l to 63l fuel tank swap

The pump wiring will fit, there is only one pump though.

The senders need to be wired up in series so the the resistors in them can control the gauge correctly, and yes that gauge needs to be one from a car that came with a 63L tank.

The lines are a little different too.

Diff to subframe bolts, and check at the same time for a cracked beam, this can be hard to see but give it a thorough check.

The other one not mentioned are the rear shock top mounts.

Another vote for a tracker here, if someone wants it they will have it away, immobiliser, steering lock, alarm are all an inconvenience for the determined thief, but will not stop them. Paint thinners is good at breaking down the carbon, don't use brake cleaner. Go at it with a wire brush in a drill, this will get rid of most of the build up. The head will need skimming if you do the chambers. I soda blast heads it gets rid of all the deposits and is quick. Manually cleaning will t...
