Re: None starter - Tried various things but no go.

Just feeding back with the outcome. It was the ECU. Fired up first time with a replacement ECU. All be it it ran like a bag of spanners but it fired up. I can safely say that leaving your E30 in the corner of a muddy, damp car park for the best part of 10 year is not recommended  Thanks for th...

Re: None starter - Tried various things but no go.

Your ECU could be corrupt or damaged by moisture from the long store. Saw a guy on YouTube recently with exact same issue on a stored E24. Tried so many things. New ECU fixed it instantly

Save yourself a lot of effort and don't bother, just remove the dry flaky foam. I stuck new foam on old adhesive about 12 years ago and it's still holding firm.
Agreed, don’t bother removing it

Will do! Doing a bit of research looks like some of the Porsche 944 boys have used it with success in their AFM's

AFM Hack & AliExpress Upgrade

Hey all, Hope everyone is well, it's been a while. I've been taking a look at my AFM recently (largely due to the suspect & over zealous amount of silicone around the cap) to see if it fixes my terrible stumbly idle which i have been chasing for some years now. There is a large previous thread on it...

Good to know. The flush and bleeding went fairly well today - there was a scary moment where no hot air was coming out of the heater for a few minutes but I disconnected the heater stub pipes for a second and it’s started pumping hot out. Do you think there’s a chance during those few minutes the h...

I think you would find that if the brass pin had worn away you would not get any horn at all. This happened to a friend.

It sounds like the circuit is grounding (completing) somehow. I’d be looking at the tabs behind each button and checking they are not jammed on. They just pop off

I would say buy the OLDEST one you can find, less complicated, simpler, easier to fix.
Seriously? There's nothing simple about the prehistoric jetronic set-up! Motronic every time.
Agreed, buy the newest you can. The 93 models are usually very well put together

Up to date RHD exhaust manifold options?

Hey zoners For probably the 5th time now I've come around to the decision I'd like to get a shiny exhaust manifold. Current one looks odd, and needs to be removed so I can replace the heat shields. Figured I might as well treat the engine bay to something more aesthetically pleasing. Not really in i...

Thought I'd revive this old thread...after the very nice technician at Poulton Test Centre in Dover allowed me to adjust the idle CO on his gas tester...this little quirk has gone. Initial reading was 4.1 CO which is crazy rich...this I'd set by adjusting the idle air to the factory value stamped o...

Re: Overheating problems

I don’t think it would be possible for a leak to somehow incorporate air into the system due to the pressure forcing water out, rather than anything in. Goes into negative pressure (relative to atmos.) when the system cools down, so not totally impossible. I guess it wouldn't be circulating though,...

Re: Overheating problems

The system is pressurised meaning the water inside wants to leak out, hence why you get leaks. I don’t think it would be possible for a leak to somehow incorporate air into the system due to the pressure forcing water out, rather than anything in. The unfortunate alternative which is likely your cas...

Yea unfortunately if your splines are worn even slightly you will get a vac leak. So most people seal that metal on metal connection with some sealer or glue.

I did see one guy who tapped it out and made a custom threaded elbow for it. Maybe a little over kill though

Mines the same...after a period off the battery power the idle is faster...some kind of default map...but then it settles down to 750 rpm but rougher some how. paul :-) Mmm interesting, so it’s like the ECU just increases the rpm after a disconnect. If there is no feedback loop as Brian says maybe ...
