Re: BAUR Roof Screw Conundrum

Nice one Mart!Very appreciated, thanks for taking the time to do this. Do you have any more info on the screws that are on the side of the hood as they are different to the bolts from my understanding? As far as I can tell the screws are identical to the ones also used on an e28 BAUR TC1. I'm going ...

Any chance you could confirm? Be good if we can use this thread to get a parts list for possible replacement and demistify the original dimensions etc

I'm also waiting to hear back from Syntner

Re: BAUR Roof Screw Conundrum

Thanks for the info Mart. I had a feeling they would be M5, but thats confusing as the ones that are in there are at the moment are M4, so I'm not sure how they're actually holding! I also found this part on ebay, which is meant to be a genuine screw, and it's a 3.5 x 16....?! Screenshot 2024-...

Re: BAUR Roof Screw Conundrum

I have taken out the screws I need and measured them up. There are three different types that are needed. Wierdly the first flat head screw has a thread which is 4.7mm, thisdefinetly can't be correct as it's not a metric size.I'm assuming this screw should be an M4 like the others. The challenge is ...

Re: Early Euro M20 Timing Adjustment

Just to chime in, the timing mark on the distributor itself should actually be alligned to the 'Z' timing mark on crank pulley, not the '0' mark. The 'Z' stands for 'zeit' which is German for 'time' and is marked on the pulley at the appropriate 22 degrees of advance and so this is what should be us...

Thanks for the info,I actually have a Bentley manual but haven't checked it as it being American it has no info on the 320 as it basically didn't exist stateside. Re: Injector Replacement or Restoration?

Yeah Blanca there's lots of cheap Bosch Injectors about, but you must remember that all injectors have very different specs specific to the vehicle, you can't just throw any injector in there, sure it'll work but you'll probably be burning way more fuel than you need or underfueling, either scenario ...

Re: Injector Replacement or Restoration?

Leaking injectors are easily diagnosed. Connect a fuel pressure gauge, Start the engine and switch it off. Clamp the fuel feed and return lines. See how long pressure is maintained. Repeat with just the supply line clamped and just the return line clamped to check for other leakage. Good shout Bria...

Thats what I'm thinking.Reason I'm, replacing/restoring is I'm pretty certain I've got a leaky one and they ain't really looking in great shape...which is not really suprsing as I'm sure their the 36 old originals! I really don't want to fork out for the only OEM's I can find for £120 per injector t...

Re: Best way to protect intake ports whilst engine is sitting in car outside with no manifold?

That's somewhat reassuring! Plan is gaffa backed ply bolted on in that case.Sounds ok to me... One of the reasons I also can't put the manifold back on sharpish is that I was half asleep and quickly just gave the manifold port gasket part a quick (v light) sanding and forgot to clog the ports...now ...

I wouldn't trust that to last on a greasy engine on it's own I don' t think...I might use it for the backside of the ply though, would behave like a gasket....good shout.

Best way to protect intake ports whilst engine is sitting in car outside with no manifold?

I was just wondering if anyone had any tips for protecting the inlet ports on my engine from possible water ingress while it has to sit outside. I'm finally getting stuck into getting my injectors on my 320i 84' BAUR sorted, something I've been putting off for a while now.
