Re: What is this part?

Yes, the base and bracket look similar, but I am not 100% certain. I like the website a lot! Very useful! In the morning I am going to get a look at the underside of it. Hopefully the electronic fitting will confirm. Thank you for your help!

What is this part?

Cooling fan belt broke. Knocked the top cover off this part. What is it? I want to create a replacement cover for it, but may just replace the entire part. But what is it?

Re: Help: Valve Adjustment Gone Wrong

To follow up, the loud ticking audible in the video was due to me not tightening the eccentric bolt down enough. The gap was enormous. I completed another valve adjustment and the car runs pretty rough. Sputtering, rough idle. Slight lack of power. Very light white smoke (or moisture??) coming from...

If you search the internet for "e30 bentley manual" you can download a copy.

Ben
I bought the physical book, but no matter the format, I’ve found the E30 Bentley manual to be worth every penny! I think I found my copy brand new on eBay for around $40.00

Ok, so I found a video of a good ol’ boy here in the US demonstrating how to adjust the idle mixture screw on his Weber 32/36 (I know it’s not a 32/34). I had a ‘73 2002 with a Weber carb. I was taught to pump the throttle pedal twice, then start. No choke needed (but I live in a warm climate).

Interesting. A couple months ago I had a gasoline smell in the cabin. It took a while to track it down. My 318i’s fuel return line’s hose clamp was loose, and the metal ridges wouldn’t hold tightening up. I replaced the clamp and all is good again. The early BMW’s have an elegant simplicity to the m...

I guess I should have provided photos demonstrating the condition of the cylinder head cover and the associated gasket, which appears to be made of cork. Here they are: 62DCA7B1-D70F-4100-8441-28C2B675A1EC.jpeg 460E6992-7FC3-4781-AB5E-0CD96870B5F4.jpeg 344F2E0A-36B4-4D0C-9520-BD97657A7596.jpeg

Cylinder Head Cover Mounting Nuts and OCD

I have an ‘85 318i 5spd, M10. My cylinder head cover has been leaking just the very slightest bit of oil from the #2 mounting nut since I bought the car last year. Car runs fine. A couple days ago, OCD set in and I decided to check to make sure that the mounting nuts were properly torqued. According...

Does an auto to manual transmission swap require an ECU swap too?

Airbag light resets, but retriggers as soon as the car is moving. ABS does not work, wheels lock under braking. The ABS light...

I found some useful videos on YouTube for removing the instrument cluster and replacing the odometer gears. Several were good, but those by Dan Cronin and Bimmer Zeit were most helpful.
