yes the engine will rev to 6k

there is absoultly nothing wrong with the engine compression test o.k

the car has been serviced regularly since new

just the tappety noise is annoying I'm sure it is oil related.......

I thought that this engine had Hydraulic lifters??
would they still need adjusting?

Have just purchased a 318i touring and restored it to it's formar glory
have had it serviced now engine is occasionally very tappety.
was about to pu STP in the engine

car has done 126k

any recommendations on oil?
