What should I look out for

I am going to look at a 1990 318 on Saturday, I am no mechanic, what should I be looking for.
I will get a mechanic to look over it but what are the initial things that I should be looking out for

Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Where do you get all the time to do this work? Just looking at the last pictures you posted, show the extremes you went to, to create this masterpiece.

My 320i SE

SPEC: This car is the exact same as it was when it left the factory in Germany in 1991. Although it has 116,000 on the clock. Also has new Pioneer CD player, but thats about it. Oh, very close to having a very cool reg number aswell. 91 DL 3200 would have been better. http://img.photobucket.com/albu...

Loom NOVICE

Where is the loom, I need to bypass my imobiliser, and was told that there should be 2 green wires near or under the loom and to cut them and to join either side together. Does this make sense to anyone???

Ok, I spoke to a supposedly expert here in Dublin. He said there should be two green wires coming from the loom, he said to cut these and join them together and this should by pass the imobiliser which seems to be my main problem, would that be correct? Secondly, coming from a pure electrical novice...

ALARM REMOVAL

How easy is it to remove an alarm. Its a Cobra alarm and was on the car when I got it last year, probably installed since 1991. It's giving me lots of problems and I just want to rip out at the moment, but a bit fearfull of what might happen if I do??

I had the same problem, left car for 3 days while out of country. Came back and the battery was dead and the alarm was activated, lights weren't flashing but I could hear it ticking under the bonnet. I jumped the car the following day and the alarm hasn't worked since, but the battery is fine. So as...

Flat battery

I am having a problem with my battery. It is a quality Banner battery and only about 6 months old. Last week I tried to start the car and the battery failed. I jumped it and brought it to a garage and it turned out that the altanator wasn't charging the battery fully. I had the altanator changed and...

Best is the way that people just look when you stop at the lights. People coming up to you in the street giving you their business cards offering to buy the car off you. Seeing the nose of the car rise as you acelerate. Older people looking and giving a nod of approval. These cars have it all! :D
