Re: budget big brake kit.
I got a pair of jag callipers from my local scrap yard, looks like they will fit under 15" bbs wheels, but they're very tight. There's not enough clearance for the wheel weights so I'm going to attack the callipers with a grinder and failing that I'll get the wheels rebalanced with the weights on th...

SI Shift Light Arduino
You can buy kits to change the E30 service indicator (SI) into shift lights but I like doing stuff myself so I've used an Arduino to make my own shift lights. This project wasn't particularly difficult, I would definitely recommend this as a good project if you have some spare time and want to get s...

Re: Touring third brake light
I like your solution, does it hold well clipped on to the trim? I probably over engineered mine a bit, as I wanted to make sure it was screwed down to something solid. I don't think its going to fall of but there is a bit of movement in it. Your mounting method looks better. Where did you tap in to...

Re: Touring third brake light
That's looking good. Definitely an important safety upgrade. Here's my version. I got the brake light from a Vauxhall, trimmed it to fit and glued some taps on to clip over the trim.

Re: New M54 engine swap forum.
Sorry ignore the last post I'm just an idiot, the clutch is fine now. I've attached a picture of a drawing for the gearbox mount. PM me if you want the full cad files. I haven't heard of anyone doing it before but I can confirm that it is possible to do the engine swap with an MS45 ecu retaining the...

Re: New M54 engine swap forum.
Got my gearbox mount from the machine shop yesterday! After a long night of finishing the last few bits I took the car for a little test drive :D . It seams to be ok but the clutch is slipping. It's drivable as it is and only slips under medium to hard acceleration and I feel like it was getting bet...

I get it really badly too. You're probably not going to believe me but I find stinging myself with stinging nettles cures it pretty much instantly! No idea why but it works better than any pills I've tried.

Re: New M54 engine swap forum.
I had another look and I think the E30 and the E85 master cylinders have the same bore and travel, so it makes sense for the slave to be matched to the gearbox as Dan says. I'll connect and bleed it soon to find out.

Re: New M54 engine swap forum.
Yeah I was going to get the E30 prop shortened and balanced if I couldn't find the right bits. I had the front half from my E85 donner car and I bought the rear half from an E36 325i, I think the rear half is same length all 6 cylinder E36s. Bolts right up with an E30 csb and medium case diff, just ...

Re: New M54 engine swap forum.
Has anyone found a good way to mount the 6 speed GS6-37BZ? I don't think there are any BMW parts that work but correct me if I'm wrong? kassel performance in America sell one but I don't like how it hangs off the mounts at the front and the welding on it doesn't look very good. I think I'll try and ...

BBS Centre Caps 3D Printed
It took me a while but I've designed and printed some centre caps for my wheels. They're not perfect but I like them and they didn't cost me £100 each. https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4737409 I'm not going to be selling them but all the stl files are available if you follow the link. Re: Removing the Engine - Project M40 Restoration Part 4
Another great video!
The fuel filter at the front is actually a Carbon Canister. https://www.e30zone.net/e30wiki/index.p ... n_Canister
I've got a spare gearbox if you need it? And I will have an M40 engine and another gearbox for sale soon because I'm going to be doing an M54B30 swap.

E85 Z4 steering rack for RHD 6777507
I've seen that this has been done for LHD cars before and was wondering if anyone had fitted and e85 rack to a RHD car? I don't think there should be any significant differences. This is a non power steering rack as the Z4 has electric power steering in the steering column. Apparently the ratio is s...

Re: First E30 - 316i Touring Rescue - (Update: Now MOT'd!)
I had the same problem with the purple tag linkage and the exhaust when I fitted one to my 316i touring. I originally welded and hit the exhaust with a hammer a lot to make it fit. I now have a non cat exhaust that I replaced it with and this happens to clear everything without modification. I'm not...

M43 parts to upgrade M40 engine.
I found that the oil spray bar on my 316i was blocked and the cam shaft looks very worn. I've replaced the spray bar and it still works at the moment but I think I'll have to do something about it soon. I can't upgrade to a bigger engine yet because I'm too young and I can't get insurance. So it loo...

I think it might have been the chinese battery isolator that I got off ebay which was causing a bad earth. I've removed it now so I'll see if that fixes it.

Crazy Full Beam Problem
I was driving along at about 60 with my dipped beam on, I then switched to full beam and the whole electrical system cut out for about half a second, the engine lost power and the radio turned off. Then the car continued as if nothing had happened. This happened 4 or 5 times and when I tried it at i...

Re: Fixing Intermittent Window Wiper's
I've just driven home in the rain this morning and my wipers have completely stopped working on the single wipe and medium speed setting, does it sound like it could be the same problem?
I'm going to go out and have a look at it now while it's not raining.
