E30 Zone

That car looks familiar... Would you have come down with your mate to buy my cecotto a couple of years ago?

Its not a proper Group A M3 shell (no fuel fillers in the rear number plate panel), so at worst its a stickered up road car

If were talking about BMW's in general then my top 3 would have to be -

E9 CSL 3.0
E30 M3
E34 M5 Touring

Followed by the 2002 turbo and the 635csi

Thinking about it, I doubt it is the original engine, iirc Jonny Cecotto did not drive for BMW after 1990 (??) Either way though, a very nice thing to own

I was looking at the engine rather than the car tbh mate, looks like a very late version and making 380+bhp makes it one of the more powerful units that BMW used

Gruppe A M3's seem to have gone up in value a lot over the past couple of years, although i know of a couple of decent ones for sale for just over half of the current bid. Saying that though, this is a very late car and was driven by the master himself so it will always fetch top money

I used to get that a lot too, and when i sold it nobody would believe that I bought an e46 M3 with the money and had some change!

Its a sad reality that 99% of people look at e30's as scrap metal. When i had my M3 i lost count of people offering me £500 for it or asking 'why have you bothered with a bodykit on that old car'

Someone built a replica Jager DTM car with a chevvy engine in a couple of years back, think he still posts on s14.net and the bmwcc forum but cant remember his name im afraid.

I reckon you would have more luck asking on either of those sites though

I did my first track day in the M3 with track action a few years back at brands (2005 i think?)

Try admiral, my mrs is a named driver on mine and has been driving for less than 5 years - adding her actually lowered the quote by over 100 quid!

Well iv owned both, and to be honest they are almost too different to compare properly. The e30 M3 is not a great road car, it is gutless below 4000rpm and cannot be used to anywhere near its potential on our crappy roads. That said, i cant think of a car iv driven that rewards in quite the same way...

It is possible mate, i got my M3 when i was 19 and insurance was by no means impossible!

Dont just go through the comparison sites, try some of the smaller brokers and specialists. Some will come back with sky high quotes but you should get a few decent ones too

Iv been watching the market for the past few weeks as im thinking of selling mine soon and decent un molested e30s are going for good money (and geting sold quickly)

One thing i have noticed is the gap between the 'mint' ones and the 'good' ones is getting much larger price wise.

IMO a lot of e30's are overpriced these days but then again people the fact that people are paying top money has to be good for us right

its very hard to value these cars because their worth is determined entirely by race history. You can buy one in the same condition as this for 35k if it was a spare chassis or one that never won a race. There is a massive market for these cars though so he may get what hes asking. Looks a little overpriced to be honest. I know a guy who restores these cars and and 50-60k is the going rate for a minter with good history

way over priced IMO - ML have a long tradition of shafting people but that sort of money is crazy!

Iv got a 330ci clubsport as my daily driver and its one of the best cars iv ever driven. One of the main reasons for wanting to sell my M3

Thanks for the responses guys - some very good advice. I have seen the cecotto on ebay and IMO it is over priced, as was that silver one the other week. My main argument for keeping it is that it will never loose money provided it is looked after, but when you spend more time polishing a car than us...

To be honest, its not a case of needing to sell, its just that its wasted sitting around not being used. Your right about this not being a good time to sell but il only consider it if its worth my while

Hey guys, Thinking about selling my M3 as I just dont get to use it. A lot of you know the car and know its owned by a genuine enthusiast, always garaged, zaino'd all the time etc etc. All i really need to know is what sort of money I could expect if I sold up as Il only do it if the price is right....

First time iv taken the car to ace in over a year - my mate was going up ( silver 330ci next to mine) so i thought id tag along. I must say that there are a lot more council charriots up there these days but there were still some nice cars

Was a good turn out in the end and very lucky with the weather!
