Caliper Rebuild Kit?
E30 has been stood for ages. 318iS stock brakes.
Looking to strip and overhaul the brakes. Anyone know of a full rebuild kit available? Or if you've done the job and kept part numbers for seals, clips, bleed nipples pistons etc?[/list]

Getting too old and lazy. Car's been off the road for a few years and needs fuel tank and brakes doing, then some minor repairs and a blow over. Anyone had positive experiences with a place that can be trusted?

I was going to approach Matt, never quite sure who's still on the scene. - I'll be pretty much rust-free (visual check) once I've replaced the bootlid. Looking at the list here, there's no rocket-science involved, I should be less lazy, but I'm working *a lot* and have got a house refurb on the go a...

Newer diffs have the "headlight" plug. Pre-facelift have the T-shaped spade plug.

I'm in the exact same boat. - I was going to use petrol. Will pretty much evaporate with less left behind than the cruddy old oil.

Will I have to send my 9855R back to the men in the white coats? Are other Alpine HUs thirsty on idle? - Could it relate to something I could fix myself?
Obviously I don't want to lose my HU, but nor do I want to isolate it and have to reload all my settings every time I get in the car.

Battery Drain... Brian? :)
I have a 110-120mA draw on Fuse 21. - Goes away when I unplug the Head Unit completely.
Could it be a wiring problem manifesting when the HU is connected, or definately a high draw from the HU itself? - It's a top-notch Alpine jobbie, wouldn't have expected silly faults with it.
Cheers,
Omi

Each? - You can get a 4-plate kit off eBay for £93 delivered and have a longer-lasting diff than rebuilding standard. For the sake of 20 minutes at a lathe, seems worthwhile.

Look up the BMW ETMs for the year and model of each car (readily available via Google or emailing me), which should give you the correct variant colours. Differential Noise...
My diff doesn't make any noise under load or off load... When turning at low speeds, the diff is quiet when turning at constant radius, but gives a groan when turning in/out at low speeds (i.e. parking). Reading on the web, output bearings are a common failure on the BMW LSDs but these would groan/w...

The whole point of the VISCOUS coupling is that the fan is only driven by the engine (i.e. taking power to turn the fan against the resistance of the air) when the temperature is high... At normal operating temperatures, the fan coupling offers no resistance. Therefore, there's no power being sapped...

Why not get a few S50/M52-engined E30's there too? Would make a great addendum as the 3rd option! (Looks, character and raw joy of driving the E30, with BMWs much improved powerhouses hauling you along.)

Re: 325 Sport short shifter?
iS has a vibration damper... Not really a hardship to hit the steel part of the linkage with a hammer on the floor a few times to circumvent the problem. How can moving the pivot so it takes more effort to change gear do damage to the gearbox unless you're pulling the next gear hard enough to do dam...

Re: A little help, the lining round the sunroof panel.
Drains from the corner of the sunroof, down A-pillars... Normally drains through the holes in the sill, but if these are blocked, your kick panel will fill with water, potentially affecting C/L module and overflowing into footwells. Get prodding drainholes along the sill.

Re: 325 Sport short shifter?
Not really, I'd recommend replacing the plastic cup it sits in and the nylon washers below... Silicone grease will keep the new one tighter for longer. Use brake/carb cleaner to move the crud so you can see what you're doing. - Screwdrivers and a bit of leverage will remove the old assembly. Look at...

Re: A little help, the lining round the sunroof panel.
The drainage from the sunroof goes to the gap behind the kick-panel, I'm told... I have the same problem.
Get under the sills and in that space and make sure the drainage is clear.
