Re: Roof Rust Bubble
Hey mate, It’s totally do able if you can find a good body repair shop. Look to set you back about £800-1000 though. If you do get it done, and done well (all rust removed, lots of rust preventing paints, wax etc), should last another 30 years. They’ll basically need to cut out the rusty patch, wel...

Roof Rust Bubble
Hi there, I am potentially buying a new (to me) coupe with a small rust bubble on the outer skin of the roof, near the sunroof. I know this is not a good sign. I just want to know if anyone has experience with repairing/having repaired such an issue and, if I do buy the car, how much I can expect to...

Re: M52 harness questions
I’d just add here that I used an E36 loom and it still needed trimming / adjusting to suite E30 standard ECU location. I can’t see how I could have used it ‘as is’ to be honest. So you had to cut individual wires and lengthen them? Extra length on several wires can be obtained simply by unwrapping ...

Still in the process of getting my donor car, going to daily it through the winter and wait until summer to get cracking. Figure I’m going to break the rest of it and make some money back with a bit of luck! Good plan. I done the same so give me a shout if you need any help! Sweet, thanks man!

Re: M52 harness questions
I used an auto loom from an E36 and trimmed it down to fit. The auto part of the loom comes away quite easily and you can delete the traction control wiring and a few other bits as well. I can send you some pin out diagrams if you need them - you can use them to make sure you're not cutting anythin...

Re: M52 harness questions
I'm sure there's info. in the wiki or M50/52 forum. The EWS module and antenna just need simple connections to permanent and ignition switched 12 volts, and earth, then there's a single wire between the EWS module and the engine ECU. The ring antenna can be fitted to an E30 ignition switch/shroud w...

Re: M52 harness questions
Any of the looms can be used, but the E36 version places the various bits attached to it in places suited to installation in an E30. Cutting and extending of various wires is required if you use any of the others. All do able, but it's one more job to do. If you have a complete donor car, I'd think...

Re: 316 Electric Pump Conversion
The wiring in the looms is usually present, right up to the plug under the RH side of the rear seat cushion. Look for a green/purple wire coming into the plug, but not continuing on the the small loom that goes under the rear of the car. Fuel return pipe can be made up from 8mm cunifer (cupro-nicke...

Re: M52 harness questions
I used an E36 328i manual. Had EWS deleted from ECU and cut / adapted loom to work on E30. Fitted in M50 inlet manifold. I think an Auto loom would work but needs more cutting away? Yeah that’s what I figured, I assume your 328 had the single vanos engine too? So would the best move be to get a pro...

316 Electric Pump Conversion
Hi all, I want to fit an injected engine sooner or later, therefore I will need an electric pump and return system. What would be the best way of doing this? I am aware my car shouldn't have the swirl pot in the fuel tank as this was exclusive to injected cars from the factory, and this could cause ...

M52 harness questions
Hi everyone, With the bodywork on my 316 finally in a good place, I'm moving my ambition to getting rid of this engine for something more fun. My main question is which donor car to buy: a 728i from 95-98, a 528i from 95-98, or just go down the M50 route (despite the fact that I'm finding it hard lo...

Hello, As the weather is about to turn, I figured I would attempt to get the heat finally working in my 316. Dumb breather hose question
Hi there, Just a quick query; which part number to order as a replacement for the hose circled in red in this generic picture? Mine is creating a rather large air leak. I cannot find a diagram online for a carb model and all the hoses that I have found are for injected models. https://imgur.com/MbqB...

Centre Cap Bolts?
Hello, I recently got some basketweaves for my 316 and the centre caps have these weird bolts that seem to be very specific to this type of centre cap (see pics). Hi everyone, I'm trying to replace my clutch cylinders, however I'm stuck on removing the master as it will not move. Re: 316 Engine Swap Fueling Question
Thanks guys, sorry for the late reply.
I will definitely have a look and consider my next move.
In terms of pumps, which would be the go to? I was looking at a Bosch 044, but I am assuming that would complicate things due to its in-line nature when compared to an in tank pump.

316 Engine Swap Fueling Question
Hi, I'm considering an M5x swap for my 1988 316 (carbed) and I'm unsure about what to do in terms of fuel delivery. Currently the car has the standard mechanical fuel pump fitted to the side of the engine head, and no return line. Obviously, an M5x would require an electronic pump. Does this mean I ...
