Thatcham isnt an alarm manufacturer, they are a company that rate alarm systems and govorn them. i.e. Cat 1, cat 2 etc... Toad arent bad, but really it comes down to who you get to install it, 90% of issues with alarms come from shoddy installation, get a good installer and you wont have a problem ...

thanks for all the responses, I think Im gonna take the view that a little investment is needed to get the car inmint condition, the fact that the car has only done 50k, which is oneof the lowest i've seen i think its worth that extra bit of cashto get it fixed, plus its still stock which is how i l...

Thats a real shame this was a nice motor 325 cabo low mileage on a j plate. The brake disk issue shouldn't be a problem, but the white residue is a worry, the residue was only very small could this be the start of the problem do you think ? If its a cracked head gasket how much would this cost to fi...

No problem with paperwork - DVLA just require an update on engine size, and no problems at all with the right insurance company. DVLA actually get more excited about fitting smaller engines, as they suspect you may be on the fiddle regarding road tax band! To find airleaks on the induction side, I ...

Thats about the same mileage as i would expect. I've printed off a few articles from the zone regarding missfires, including a a recent one where you had a suggestion of an airleak, he's tried then all, apart from stripping the engine !! Is there lots of paper work with the DVLA and insurance...

Thanks Brian, With this being the pre-facelift model, would i be right in assuming that the mileage on most of these enginess would be quite high. Not too fussed but I need to get my engine out asap, its had a miss fire for 6 months and my mechanic cant figure it out. He says the next stage is rippi...

Thought I'd highjack/piggy back this post. Was thinking of doing the same to my 318i M40 Cab, heard they werent the best engine ever produced by BMW. Is it just a case of dropping the engine in the car and all connections are the same. Sorry but i'm just as much in the dark about these things, its j...

Re: misfire
the 320 airflow meter is not the same as a 318 if you have tapping noises it is likely you will have to change the camshaft / rockers / hydurlic lifters / spraybar as a package as they will all be worn just changing the lifters will have little effect as oil starvation from a blocked spray bar is u...
